2. Sorry I forgot to put this in my original post
Ive never run the game on XP, and I suspect that is the problem, but since Ive never heard of something that runs on Windows 95 not running on XP I think there is probably a way around this.

3. Thats probably it.
I don't think XP can run 16bit applications. I know it doesn't run programs from dos either.

5. I just read on a BG forum that
BG generally runs fine on XP.

4. Try right clicking on the executable and changing the compatibility mode
to windows 98 or 95.

7. Here's a way that I've used...
Go to Start>> Run, type in: cmd

In the resulting command prompt window, copy the following:

c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt c:\windows\system32
c:\windows\repair\config.nt c:\windows\system32

You will need to press Enter after each line. Try to run your program. The issue should be resolved.

8. But I wonder how the original poster solved the problem.
It's doesn't seem fair just to say problem fixed without telling how it was fixed when people offered advice.
