That movie would kick ass. Particularly if it was based on the DC comic "The Prisoner: Shattered Visage".

To me it's like Carl Kolchak; I can't imagine anyone being Kolchak other than Darrin McGavin, just like I can't imagine anyone other than Patrick McGoohan as Drake..

McGoohan says the Prisoner is not Drake's character.

As for who would play him... I think it sould be a Brit. I also think someone like Edward Norton could pull it off.

transmission of acute paramoia and anger...Patrick McGoohan's character was pretty tightly-wound underneath that supremely cool facade. I can't think of anyone, offhand, who'd fit the bill. How about Hugh Jackman, if you scuffed him up and aged him a bit? Sam Neill? Harrison Ford? Sean Bean?

Oooohhh...Christopher Walken. :-)

Actually, that'd be interesting. The more I think about it, though, the more Sean Bean sounds good. If Hollywood's in typical form, though, it'd be Ben Affleck in the title role. Either that or they'd get their British Beans mixed up:



Maybe Dolly Parton could play Rover.

The Prisoner is still one of the best things ever made for television.

I promise you this is not a fun list, it's a heavy-sigh list based on what Hollywood continues to shovel out.

And does anyone seriously go to these remake/rehashes anymore expecting a great movie??? I was reading Terry Lawson of the Detroit Free Press panning "The Dukes of Hazzard," which apparently is a critical dud, though it is OF COURSE tops at this weekend's box office (the other Hollywood obsession which is killing creativity, IMHO).

I heard an interesting theory that, if true, completely clarifies what's going on here. What do you think?

Big screen treatment of old TV show=Hollywood marketing ploy to generate pre-buzz for the eventual DVD release of said TV show. Ergo, quality is well besides the point.
