I went there and had a fabulous time...but from photos I've seen it is all built up. I only had one big hotel when I was there. Wish I could help.

it's so beautiful.
also the french side is a lot nicer. better food and just more interesting overall. , they have a huge beach party for the full moon just outside of the large french town. plum beach is gorgeous and deserted, the other beaches on that side have great kiosks for food and frosty drinks.

and the ferries to st john and anguilla are on the french side. i think theres also one to st barths, as i recall.
load up on cheap booze and gamble on the dutch side and when it bores you, take the road past the airport to the french side. remarkable beaches there!

I only get to go to New Mexico and Massachusetts!
Although I did go to Chile last year, but that's the only really exotic place I've been too. Also, not exactly tropical (I was there for the skiing).
