Could someone fluent in Linux please fill me in on how to watch media
I am trying to view the Novak video http://mediamatters.org/items/200508040004">here

I just set up Linux (or, that isi to say, had it set up for me) and I have proven to be too retarded to use it.

The window is telling me that it cant detect my media player, and its asking me to download and install Quicktime or Windows Media Player

Will they both work with Linux?

1. I use mplayer in linux
what distribution are you running? If it's debian-based, you can grab mplayer from the marillat repository, with all the codecs you'll ever need. Xine may also work for you.

4. Off-topic, but I'm a newbie...
...and I can't start a thread yet...can you help me?

My mom locked up Word on her Mac; anytime she tries to edit a document, or begin a new one, the error message "Document is locked for editing" appears...how do I clear her Word program without reinstalling? Help!

5. Another question
I'm try to stream Yahoo's Launchcast service, but am unable to do so. What plugins, if any, will I need?

Or, is that the price I have to pay for not dealing with Microsoft's BS?
