"Why would they do that?" Update on the Bible-in-slab contractor
Last week we were all up in arms over Possibility Custom Builders of Houston, Texas, the contractor who "builds his homes on a solid foundation" by burying a Bible in the slab of each one.

Some of you bemoaned the forcing of the contractor's morality on everyone. Others worried about the structural problems inherent in embedding Bibles in concrete slabs. And I was plenty pissed because these jokers are building code-minimum houses with hardboard siding on them, charging $350k for each one, and bragging about how wonderful they are.

Today I mentioned this builder and his odd construction habits to my department head, who is an ordained minister. He got this real weird look on his face.

"What's wrong?"
'Why would they do that? Bibles only work if you read them.'

2. He doesn't drink
He's a bit like Bush: before he found Jesus, he drank, smoked weed, did coke, dealt blow, in short not a very nice person.

Now that he's found Jesus, no booze, weed or coke passes his lips.

He is, however, quite unlike Bush in that he takes his religion seriously.

And he voted for John Kerry, too. He doesn't think Bush is the Antichrist, but rather one of the lower-level demons. He thinks the Antichrist is too big to be any one person.
