Has anyone read The Historian?

It was given to me as a gift and I am 100+ pages into it and hoping it improves. There is some actual interesting information but it is dry as dust. I have read some reviews that love it and then are those that say they would rather dig a ditch than read it again. So - anyone finish it? Worth sticking with it?

1. I really did like it

The style isn't to everyone's taste but I stuck with it and enjoyed it. I must say, though, right toward the end I learned more about the travel patterns of Carpathian monks than I'll ever probably need to know. That part was very dry and I sped through to get to the conclusion.

Hope you stick with it but reading for pleasure should be exactly that. Don't force it if it's not fun. :)
