Marc Cohn's shooting suspect arrested

A man suspected of shooting Marc Cohn Grammy-winning musician during an attempted car jacking in Denver, Colorado was arrested after a five-and-a-half hour standoff with police.

Cohn, who had a hit with the song "Walking in Memphis" and won the Grammy for best new artist in 1992, was shot in the temple late Sunday when a man fired into his band's van in a parking garage.

Cohn, who is married to ABC news reporter Elizabeth Vargas, was treated at a hospital and released Monday. He cancelled the remaining five stops on his tour with Suzanne Vega.

The bullet grazed Cohn's driver and tour manager who also was treated and released.

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said the bullet appeared to have been slowed by the van's windshield and by Dube before hitting Cohn.

He is alive

"Frankly, I can't tell you how he survived," Jackson said.

Joseph William Yacteen, 26, is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, robbery and other charges.

DENVER -- After a 5½-hour standoff, police have captured a man wanted for three attempted armed carjackings and shooting Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Marc Cohn in the head.

Joseph Yachteen is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, robbery and a slew of other charges related to three attempted carjackings.

Joseph William Yachteen, 26, is being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, robbery and other charges after police say he went on a carjacking spree Sunday night.

Police say during that spree, Yachteen shot at a van downtown that Cohn and his road manager were riding in. Cohn, famous for his hit song "Walking in Memphis," had just performed at a sold-out concert at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
