Have any of you guys heard about this free ipod stuff?
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 10:50 AM by WeRQ4U
Two of my brothers in law signed up for it and actually received 20g Ipods from the service. I was TOTALLY skeptical about it, but now I'm willing to give it a shot. I thought it seemed kind of "pyramid scheme" like. It's so odd. But then I found an article from WIRED magazine that said it was legit too. http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,64614,00.html?tw=wn_story_page_prev2

I guess this Gratis Marketing (or something like that) receives HUGE amounts of cash for referring people to AOL, Realplayer, Ancestry.com, Ebay etc. and they can therefore afford to give away ipods for help in doing so.

A couple of my wife's friends on Indiebride got ipods this way too. They set up some system for referrals.

Here's the link if you want to check it out.

What do you guys think? Legit? Worth a shot?

I'm not putting this on to collect signatures either, I already sent it to all my friends. I'm just asking you guys if you've heard about it before.

1. I got suckered into starting the process
of getting my free ipod. Then I realized what needed to be done to qualify, and I gave up because I knew I could not make all the referralls and sign up for all the services that were required.
Everything needs to be done in a specific time frame and you need to be able to get other people to do their part.

I believe that people do actually get their reward, but it was not for me.

I went out and bought an ipod shuffle and got instant gratification at a known price.

Just read everything. And good luck if you give it a go.

6. there's another free ipod service that doesn't require you to do that stuf
it's only up to you to complete two offers or three offers or something like that, and no referrals. i'll see if i can't go dig up the link.

8. How many services did you have to sign up for?
The one that I'm looking at requires only 5 referrals and one offer completed by me. Is that about what yours had? If so, was it really hard to do it?

2. I've heard of it....It's like Amway with headphones in my opinion.
I don't care to put my family members and friends up for that kind of thing. They would never speak to me again. Good luck, and I hope you get an iPod. :hi:...

Another idea...Levi is running a promo, buy 100 dollars worth of Levi's and get a free mp3 player..my kids are wearing levi's to school this year. :hi:

3. That's actually not a bad promo.
I actually started the process. I signed up for Realplayer's Rhapsody music downloading service. It was free for 15 days and then a buck for the first month. I don't plan on using it at all, but it was an easy way to start the process.

By the way, I TOTALLY expect to get a shitload of spam from this company, but that's what my junk email box at Hotmail is for. Oh well.

I think I can get the 5 referrals. But I'm not sure.

4. I know
someone who did this and it worked out.

I personally haven't tried it, but I'm tempted because I want a second iPod. Greedy!
