California DU'ers -----------> Sonic Boom?

Did any of you hear the sonic boom this morning? I didn't know what the hell it was, then I saw that the Shuttle landed at Edwards.

1. No, I didn't! Wow.

When I was a kid, my Dad was stationed at Edwards. We use to watch the shuttle land.

6. I saw it over Bakersfield one time

I was driving I saw it flying in over the city on the way to Edwards.

I slept in (back to work next week for the opening of school!) and didn't hear it.

But I didn't hear a damned thing.

Years ago I saw it over Bakersfield.

It was apparently on a different trajectory in order to avoid flying over Los Angeles - population density is lower in our area in case of any ... problems.

4. Sonic Boom woke me at 5 something AM--Very Loud

of course, I forgot it might land at EAFB--so immediately jumped up to get ready for an earthquake.

then I thought the damn boiler in the building blew up. It sounded like the pipes were rattling.

10. Yep. I happened to be slightly awake.

It took a few seconds before it dawned on me what it was.

It looked like my wife slept through it. So I just asked her, and, at first, she said she hadn't heard it. Then a couple minutes later she said, "Wait a minute. I DID hear it - but I was asleep, and it turned into a dream. I dreamt that a bomb had gone off and destroyed downtown L.A. (of which we have a view)and I thought about looking out the window to see if it was still there, but didn't".
