Funny Things Your Pet Does
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 07:13 PM by Liberalynn
MSN internet service has a computer voice that says goodnight and then my name when I am signing off the internet for the night.

Now when my dog hears this, she runs out of the living room, straight to the room where her crate is, jumps in the crate and lays down like she is putting herself to bed.

Also the other day I laid down on the couch because I had a small headache. It was about 1:30 p.m. and I didn't mean to fall asleep. The next thing I know I feel a paw smack me in the head. It was 3:30 p.m. and time for her walk.

She dosen't nip much, she's more into swatting me with her paw when she's generally unhappy with something, kind of like our cats used to. I have the scratches from her nails to prove it.

She's a German Shepard, who is going to be four on August 16, of this year and a spoiled brat but I love her.

What funny things does your pet do?

1. Sometimes when my dog has too much energy to burn
she'll do this bucking bronco spinning in circles thing. She kind of winds up and starts going faster and faster until she gets dizzy and falls over. It's hillarious to watch. :)

Couldn't find him a few days before the shuttle left
then he came home last night a few hours after it landed
at Edwards. He looked like hell, I hosed him off, and
he's been sleeping since. I'm just sayin'.

45. He's an Oscar! And very affectionate. Sometimes.
When he's friendly, he's the best companion
you could ever ask for, from licking your face
with a faintly rotten potato smell in his warm
breath, to reading Kafka together and laughing
at all the naughty parts. Of course, when he gets
in one of his snotty moods and you even just go
to pet him, he makes his whole fur go like a porkurpine
including his head so you don't even know where his
head is and snarls. Even then you can roll him around
the house with a broom if you're careful and don't care
about the broom, so he's still a lot of fun even when
he's mad about something or other.

4. If I or my son tell our dog he's going for a walk before
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 07:21 PM by intheflow
we're 100% ready to walk out the door, he'll nag us until we actually put our hand on the door. I mean, if we say, "Pete, you want to go for a walk?" and we haven't put our sneakers on, he'll making "Wroo wraa wroooo" noises like he's telling us "Walk, walk, walk!"

If our cat Lyle isn't in a cat carrier in the car, she'll insist on sitting on the driver's head the whole trip. Lyle can also be worn like a mink stole around the shoulders--indeed, this is her preferred way to be carried around the house.

15. That's funny
about him letting you know he's ready to go and he wants you to get a move on it.

The cat sounds like she wants to have a good view of the scenery. That's so cute.

We used to have a cat that had been a stray whom my Dad had rescued from a trap. That cat would go out in my father's garage and wrap himself around Dad's neck and stay there while my Dad worked on things around the garage. It was like he never forgot who rescued him.

5. we took a walk Sunday night and found a toy
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 07:22 PM by miss_kitty
a squeaky squirrel. She has Lamie Doodle, Squeaky Turtle, Feeshbury and now SquirLee. But she only wants SquirLee-in the most agressive way-like it was dognip. She takes SquirLee on walks, puts it down to poo, picks it back and carries on. She brings SquirLee to bed. Before, it was Feeshbury, and before him it was Squeaky Turtle, and she was wild about Lamie Doodle-it was her first toy. The first time she saw squeaky toys, they freaked her stuff.

She is also trying to bag some water fowl down at the lake, which is quite entertaining.

14. That is so cute that your kitty loves her toys so much.
We tried giving the dog stuffed squeeky toys but she ends up ripping the stuffing out of them and then trying to eat the stuffing.

So now she gets the sturdy rubber toys but mostly only plays with one or two rubber balls.

That has to be something watching her "hunt" the water fowl too. Does she like the water? I used to have a male cat that did. He'd actually go sit in puddles and was always trying to get in the sink when the faucet was on.

24. She's a doggie
no worries though-I've had lovely cats who did funny things.

Stella has not eviscerated any toys. She's got a soft mouth, but they get a good shaking and growling. I bought her two small tennis balls but she only chased them a couple times...she likes the squeak-even though she broke the squeak in Feeshbury before we got two blocks from the store.

Stella is in my sig line :)

46. My puppy does that, too!
Little German Shepherd- Chow mix. She loves making top-speed flying leaps for the couch.

What's really funny, is she *always* runs the same way- past the table, onto the couch, around the other side of the table, into the computer area, around the computer chair, past the table, onto the couch,, etc etc.

Whenever she tries to change it up a little she ends up running into something and going back to her same excited running routine.

33. Hmmm...let's see...
Caesar comes up to the spot near my pillow every night when we turn off the lights. He stares at the wall for anywhere between 2 and 5 minutes, then goes to the foot of the bed to rack out for the night. He's either reporting to or getting further instructions from the Big Giant Cat, IMO.

Imhotep sits by the kitchen door whenever the s.o. puts shoes on, thinking it's time for a walk in the yard. Sometimes it is, sometimes not. If not, Nine Alarm earns his nickname yet again.

Socrates walks up to whoever's in the potty in the morning and gives blessings (soft pats to the face) and high-fives. That's how he got the nickname Pope John Socks the First.

Plato walks into the shower and drinks leftover water whenever one of the humans is done showering.

Quark calls to Imhotep to invite him to play. Imhotep is Quark's dad. It usually works.

Evie collects twistie ties. She stashes them under a corner of the area rug in my office and retrieves them as needed.

Neutrino chases bedmice (feet) on the rare occasions she climbs into bed with us at night.

That's just a small sampling, mind you, but it's representative. :)

34. Our dog flicks his nose with his paw when he's upset
about something.

He also likes to play hide-and-seek. My wife or I will distract him, while the other one hides. Then we say "Where's your mama/papa?", and he goes on a frantic search. He always tries to do it the lazy way by looking in the usual hiding places first; if we are hiding in a new and different spot he has to actually work and use his nose, but he always finds us.

that's cute a little nervous tick. Playing hide and seek with dogs is fun. It usually takes Maxie a bit, but she usually finds me in the end too.

It's funny when you say my sister's name, who doesn't live with us, but comes to visit often, the dog will run to the window, look out, and start barking.

The only thing is now Maxie will even run to the window and bark, when my sister is sitting right in the same room with her.

Grrlie, and abby/tabby mix, loves to lick my toes.

Jack, the one-eyed wonder, loves to dig his face in my pits and get a good, long sniff. He does the same with my tops and bra -- he will roll on them, pull them over his face, and generally go berserk. He has been known to fall asleep with a bra cup covering his face like an ether cone.

He also likes to be spanked. And I mean hard. Daily he jumps up on the back of an old rocking chair and waits for me to smack him around his haunches and back. Five minutes of that and he's in heaven.

38. My two dogs...
Rogue likes to make little growly/whiny noises at me when she wants something. And she likes when I give her raspberries on her cheeks.

When Rogue farts she'll sniff her butt, then run to the other side of the room and give me dirty looks as if I was the one who farted.

She also likes to tattle on my puppy. Whenever Molly is doing something bad Rogue will come running up to me and woof at me, then look at Molly. When I look over to see what she is woofing about I usually see that Molly is chewing on something she shouldn't be chewing on.

Molly likes to bring me her food or water bowl when she wants food or water. Also, I tend to shake my leg when I've been sitting still for a long time, and when I do, Molly will come up and bat at my feet like a cat.

Whenever Rogue and Molly are play fighting, Molly will be biting at Rogue. Sometimes, she starts biting her leg and she thinks she's biting Rogue's leg. When she realizes what she is doing she'll cry out and run under the table.

Also, no matter where she is in the house, when she hears that doorbell at the end of the domino's pizza commercial, she barks and races towards the door
