Poetry lovers, HELP! This is driving me crazy! What is it?
Go in and out the window
Go in and out the window
Go in and out the window
As we have done before

Go forth and face your lover
Go forth and face your lover
Go forth and face your lover
As we have done before

Anybody know what this is from? I can't get it out of my head.

:shrug::argh:

1. It is a children's nursery rhyme.

8. This link explains that this song is sung
with children in a circle.

I seem to remember playing this game when I was in elementary school at recess. We also played London Bridge Is Falling Down as a singing/circle type game. The same is true for The Farmer's In the Dell.

My own children didn't play these games. I don't know if any children play them today. I guess they would be called folk games, the kind of game that is passed down from generation to generation.

5. Thanks, guys.
I couldn't for the life of me remember where I'd heard it.

I guess 'go forth and face your lover' was my mind's own addition. :-)

6. I have no idea...
but from the rhythm of it, I'm willing to bet that's where Jim Morrison drew some of his so-called "inspiration" from ("like we did one thousand times before", etc)

...the Lizard King drew his so-called "inspiration" from substances other than children's nursery rhymes.

;-)

9. Children's nursery rhymes and lots of Lebanese hash, acid...
and maybe a little raw opium for luck. :)
