Imrana was known as 'snake woman' in the Madhya Pradesh capital for the ease with which she caught thousands of deadly snakes and cured several people of snake bite - but ironically death came to her from the bite of a King Cobra.
When the 24-year-old was explaining to a curious audience about the reptiles at an exhibition in Aishbag stadium in Bhopal on Monday, a King Cobra - one of the several poisonous snakes that she had curled around her body - slipped out of her hands.
She did not go to hospital and was instead treated by another snake expert. He used a method in which hens are used to take the venom out of a person's body. As many as 24 hens were killed and the treatment went on for several hours but Imrana could not be saved.
