I've heard of, and seen dogs chasing their tails, but a cat?

My cat Erin, the tabby male here:



Will chase his tail, spinning around until he's dizzy or he catches it.

Anyone else have a screwy cat like that? :crazy:

And then tries walking in the "cat walk," so nonchalant, but he's dizzy so he falls over. :D

And then he gives me a dirty look when I laugh at him.

5. I've seen one of my Siamese babies do it

The seal point female (we have two, also a blue point female, both about 1 year old). But she's kinda weird anyway, so...but she did it without any provocation, just decided she wanted to chase something that was moving.

I think all my young cats did that. When they get older they become to slow so they give it up. Never did see Pad Thai chase his though, but I got him when he was 5 months. Lily was an avid tail chaser up through 3 years old.

9. my cat does it once in a while... but get this...

my brother's cat plays fetch! i kid you not. she fetches a small foam ball (kinda like a clown nose), brings it back, drops it and awaits the next throw. she will do it over and over.

Any of his toys I throw, he fetches them and brings them back.

10. My late, great friend Louis the Hair Bear ( a flamepoint Persian)

had a travel ritual from which he never deviated:

He hated the carrier and would run me a merry race every time I brought it out, and then go into a near-catatonic deep sleep state once we were in the car and on the way.

But once we'd arrived at our lodgings for the night, he'd perform his ritual:

He'd open every closet, cupboard and/or drawer in the room, and if he couldn't open it he'd demand that I did.

And once he'd investigated every nook & cranny to his satisfaction, he'd jump into the bathtub and chase his tail for 5-10 minutes, out of sheer joy as far as I could tell.

He was a character, was my Louie. Died at age 12 in August 1999. 6th anniversary on Thursday. Still miss him.

14. My raccoon used to chase his tail, both around and around

and between his legs doing several somersaults. :) It was cute, but he got in a fight with another raccoon and got his ass kicked. He ended up losing his tail and couldn't chase it anymore. :(

15. If you want to drive him completely nuts, gently tie a small length of

yarn to the tip, maybe eighteen inches. To increase the fun, add a small feather.

Afterward, watch your cat spin like the White House.
