http://www.channel3000.com/news/4834734/detail.htmlPORT WASHINGTON, Wis. -- A Fredonia man claims that advice from Dr. Phil gave him the idea to hire someone to kidnap his estranged wife and lock her in the trunk of a car. But a spokesman for the "Dr. Phil" show says they've checked the transcripts and Dr. Phil McGraw never said that people sometimes need a good scare to snap them out of their delusions.
An Ozaukee County judge sentenced Ronald Schueller to six months in jail and ordered counseling after Schueller pleaded no contest to solicitation of false imprisonment.
His attorney says Schueller convinced himself that he needed to scare his wife, who planned to divorce him, so she would see the error of her ways. Schueller's plan never came to fruition because the man he tried to hire to knock his wife unconscious and kidnap her was actually an undercover sheriff's deputy.
A criminal complaint says Schueller first went to a bartender to find someone to hire. That bartender put him in touch with the man who turned out to be the undercover deputy. Dr. Phil spokesman Chandler Hayes said they hope Schueller gets the help he needs.
