The fist time I actually respond to a new person with a hearty welcome, and they get banned. Go figure. :)

2. Well... sometimes it's not 'trolls'...

they check new registrations to see if but previously banned folks have re-registered. I have NO evidence or assumptions in this case... but that's possible.

3. Maybe It Was Someone Who Had...

... previously been banned. Maybe that user didn't do anything worthy of of being banned... except returning. (Just a guess.)

5. I wouldn't worry about welcoming him.

We don't necessarily know who is a troll and who is not. I try to welcome every newbie I see, many of which have turned out to be trolls, but I just shrug it off and say better luck next time.

None of you is to blame for welcoming someone to DU. This person was banned for reasons which are known only to mods and admins.

Please keep welcoming newbies to DU. Not everyone is a troll.
