I met the world's dumbest cop tonight

So I'm covering this forest/brush fire. And it's kinda late and myself and a colleague drove to the roadblock, no one was around and it sounded like the crickets were mounting an attack.
Anyway, the guy at the roadblock comes out and after some chit chat he said "I didn't see nothing" and waved us through into the zone restricted to local traffic currently under an evacuation alert.
So after driving around for quite a while we head back. A cop hits his lights, he starts giving me shit for being there. Then drives off and hits his lights again, I thought "Fuck this noise" and broke out my recorder.
He goes on about how my tail lights are out (I only had the runners on so they weren't working.) He was being such a dick about it. ANd I recorded it. Then he says, "This shouldn't be broadcast."
I said, "Oh, I'm just recording cow sounds," in a kinda smart ass way.... Then he says, "Oh, okay." And keeps driving.

I couldn't BELIEVE it, we broke out laughing as soon as he was out of earshot.

Dick, can't tell me what to broadcast.

After this little bit of BS. I'm just gonna be like all the other reporters and everytime they give me a hassle, remind them "I have a right to be here..so piss off"

6. They've got dumb cops in Canada, too?????

There was one town in the U.S. where they gave every applicant to the police force an intelligence test, then automatically rejected those with high scores. They explained that people of high intelligence wouldn't be satisfied with police work, and wouldn't stick with the job. Only those of lower intelligence were qualified to become cops.

The policy was upheld by the courts, too...
