When John Lennon was shot, one of the local rock stations was in the middle of doing a Top 20 countdown, and after they announced the shooting, they played Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Shoot to Thrill, and Another One Bites the Dust. Consecutively.

1. I talked about this a couple nights ago

On the night Hunter Thompson shot himself, we were playing an audio presentation of "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas" on the station. I was actually listening to it and posting here when word got out. I'll never forget that.

3. Wow, you DO play everything!

FYI the station was K-97 (97.3), which I presume is a completely different station these days. Graham Hicks from the Sun used to guest on an hour geared toward new releases. Ugh, I couldn't stand him. His dissing of Devo didn't endear me to him, either. They did play some neat stuff now and then, though. It's where I first heard Stairway to Gilligan!

(Speaking of Devo, just a reminder that the 1980 Live DVD is supposed to come out on August 23rd. Speaking of which, when are the next IMPs going to be posted?)

5. Columbia & Paul Wellstone dreams

Like three days before Columbia broke up, I had a dream that the Shuttle crashed into the city of Atlanta and set it on fire.

The night before Paul Wellstone's plane crashed, I had a weird dream I was floating down a river "highway" with interstate signs above it, and a dying woman on an inner tube headed off onto an "exit" for "Eleva" (Wellstone's plane crashed in Eleveth, MN)

That's all I got. Time for me to go to sleep and predict the future..

The day the Iraq war started, I found a dead bird in my backyard. Not just dead, ripped in half.

And what sort of bird was it? A dove.

How's that for bizarre coincidence?
