5. Ok...here ya go
1. usually distracting...I like to talk to people

2. doesn't really matter

3. It depends...on the best nights they're about even. Really good desserts can get pricey. :)

4. Ethnic restaurant. National chains are boring. A sports bar or coffee isn't nice enough. And 4 star is probably too nice for date number one.

5. Definitely dinner and entertainment for two. I've always wanted a really expensive date. *sigh*

6. Never been kicked out. I'm a good girl. :)

7. Oh yeah. I love ethnic restaurants and many of the plaes I like to eat are frequented by predmoinantly Hispanics or African-Americans.

8. Not long. I'm not really a club person.

9. It would depend on the person. Dinner would probably be at Jazz down on 6th street. Cajun food down close to all the good bars and live music. That way we could walk until we heard music that just had to be danced to.

10. Nice buzz but not sloppy. I usually save "sloppy" til I know I'm home and dry. :)

6. A few random thoughts
1. Loud music at a restaurant: Lets you know that this place is hopping, or distracts you from the food?

Bloody nuisance - stops conversation and prevents enjoyment of the food. If you want loud music why bother with good food or interesting people?

2. Small-plate dining: Yay or nay?

Yes.

3. Which is usually more at a big night out: your food bill or your bar bill?

Bar bill - by quite a large factor.

4. What's the ideal first-date restaurant? Four star and expensive; a national chain; a sports bar; an ethnic restaurant; just coffee; something else?

Probably ethnic.

5. If given $500 to plan an evening, and you had to choose one of the following options or the money would disappear, would you pull out the stops for dinner and entertainment for two, host a dinner party for 15, or kegs and munchies for dozens? Or would you just let the money disappear?

By dinner party for 15, I assuming for 15 guests (plus self) as an odd number would be unlucky. Any how - dinner party for a good number of varied and interesting folk.

6. Ever been kicked out of a bar or club? Why?

No - but told that would not be served any more alcohol - not because of my behaviour but that of a person accompanying me.

7. Ever been the odd person out at a club? (i.e. at a club that caters primarily to a racial/ethnic group that's not yours; or a woman at a not-very-couples-friendly strip club; a straight person at a gay bar, etc.)

Not that I remember.

8. How long are you willing to wait in line to get into a hot new club? Are you willing to wait knowing that a bouncer may deem you not one of the cool kids and not let you in?

20 seconds would be pushing it.

9. If someone asked you to take them to "dinner and dancing," what would you plan?

White-tie and tail-coat.

10. Of these three, which are you most likely to be after a night out with friends: The designated driver or otherwise sober; a nice buzz but not sloppy; puking in the storm sewer.

2. Definitely no vomiting and still able to construct philosophical arguments (mostly coherent ones too), but far from legal to drive a car.

7. My Answers:
1. Loud music at a restaurant: Lets you know that this place is hopping, or distracts you from the food?

Distracting, but soft music, like a harp, is ok.

2. Small-plate dining: Yay or nay?

Yay

3. Which is usually more at a big night out: your food bill or your bar bill?

Food, by a large margin.

4. What's the ideal first-date restaurant? Four star and expensive; a national chain; a sports bar; an ethnic restaurant; just coffee; something else?

National Chain

5. If given $500 to plan an evening, and you had to choose one of the following options or the money would disappear, would you pull out the stops for dinner and entertainment for two, host a dinner party for 15, or kegs and munchies for dozens? Or would you just let the money disappear?

Host a dinner party for 15.

6. Ever been kicked out of a bar or club? Why?

No

7. Ever been the odd person out at a club? (i.e. at a club that caters primarily to a racial/ethnic group that's not yours; or a woman at a not-very-couples-friendly strip club; a straight person at a gay bar, etc.)

No

8. How long are you willing to wait in line to get into a hot new club? Are you willing to wait knowing that a bouncer may deem you not one of the cool kids and not let you in?

No, screw them. My money is just as green as the next doofuses.

9. If someone asked you to take them to "dinner and dancing," what would you plan?

Dinner and Dancing.

10. Of these three, which are you most likely to be after a night out with friends: The designated driver or otherwise sober; a nice buzz but not sloppy; puking in the storm sewer.

Designated Driver.

8. My answers
1. Loud music at a restaurant: Lets you know that this place is hopping, or distracts you from the food?

Okay. I don't like it much when ordering, and trying to talk, but once done eating it's nice to have some entertainment.

2. Small-plate dining: Yay or nay?

I don't know what that is.

3. Which is usually more at a big night out: your food bill or your bar bill?

It usually ends up about equal - I guess it depends on if you count the wine with the food, or the bar.

4. What's the ideal first-date restaurant? Four star and expensive; a national chain; a sports bar; an ethnic restaurant; just coffee; something else?

A nice place that I'm familiar with - I get nervous in a new place, and I would already have enough to be nervous about on a first date.
Not a chain though - I would want to show that I'm "cool".

5. If given $500 to plan an evening, and you had to choose one of the following options or the money would disappear, would you pull out the stops for dinner and entertainment for two, host a dinner party for 15, or kegs and munchies for dozens? Or would you just let the money disappear?

I would go for the dinner for two, just because I've never spent that much.

6. Ever been kicked out of a bar or club? Why?

No.

7. Ever been the odd person out at a club? (i.e. at a club that caters primarily to a racial/ethnic group that's not yours; or a woman at a not-very-couples-friendly strip club; a straight person at a gay bar, etc.)

Yes.

8. How long are you willing to wait in line to get into a hot new club? Are you willing to wait knowing that a bouncer may deem you not one of the cool kids and not let you in?

Not long at all. Won't go to a place where a bouncer could have that discretion.

9. If someone asked you to take them to "dinner and dancing," what would you plan?

I don't know. I haven't gone dancing in about 20 years. (and am glaaaad about it).

10. Of these three, which are you most likely to be after a night out with friends: The designated driver or otherwise sober; a nice buzz but not sloppy; puking in the storm sewer

  1. Distracting... In fact, unless I'm there to dance, I find lound places very uncomfortable. The noise competes with the conversation for me.
  2. Small plates: Yay! I love tapas
  3. Food bill, but I might by a more expensive libation like cognac
  4. ethnic restaurant or coffee
  5. Small dinner party for about 8 or 10
  6. No, never been asked to leave
  7. Yep, been the straight person at a gay bar, and been one of the few whites at several AA affairs. Sidebar: I haven't had one of these out of my skin experiences for quite a while. I could use another one.
  8. Never. I hate standing in line for any reason and avoid it at all costs. I especially don't like the exclusionary nature of this behavior.
  9. Dinner and dancing would be light tapas and drinks then either a club or the local swing dancers club. That is unique.
  10. Nice buzz. I don't like to get sloppy drunk anymore. I hate paying for it the next day. :hurts:

13. me
1. Loud music at a restaurant: Lets you know that this place is hopping, or distracts you from the food?

distraction- I'd rather be able to talk with the person I'm with than anything else

2. Small-plate dining: Yay or nay? Yeah, sometimes minimalism can be nice.

3. Which is usually more at a big night out: your food bill or your bar bill?

Food. I tend to just have 1-2 drinks.

4. What's the ideal first-date restaurant? Four star and expensive; a national chain; a sports bar; an ethnic restaurant; just coffee; something else?

ethnic restaurant (quiet)

5. If given $500 to plan an evening, and you had to choose one of the following options or the money would disappear, would you pull out the stops for dinner and entertainment for two, host a dinner party for 15, or kegs and munchies for dozens? Or would you just let the money disappear?

Dinner and entertainment for two. I'm thinking 5 star restaurant, Broadway show, hotel. (*hint ;))

I always feel like the odd person. I'm just not a big bar or club person. Other people don't see it, but it's just not my natural setting. In all honesty, I either feel like I don't fit or like I'm being seen as a piece of meat.

8. How long are you willing to wait in line to get into a hot new club? Are you willing to wait knowing that a bouncer may deem you not one of the cool kids and not let you in?

If there was a band I'd like, I'd put in some effort. Otherwise, I don't care.

9. If someone asked you to take them to "dinner and dancing," what would you plan?

I'd pick something more quiet. Something romantic- slow dancing, swing, 80's retro :P.

10. Of these three, which are you most likely to be after a night out with friends: The designated driver or otherwise sober; a nice buzz but not sloppy; puking in the storm sewer.

Either the DD or a slight buzz. I've thrown up once in the last 15 years because of too much to drink. Occasionally during periods of extreme stress, I've had too much, but it's a rarity.

15. OK, now mine:
1. It distracts from the food. Plus, my hearing is bad (worse now with the ear infections) and I hate having to ask the waiter to repeat the specials three times.
2. Yay. (For those who want a definition -- Small-plate dining is basically tapas/mezze; now American and fusion restaurants are getting into it.)
3. My food bill, always.
4. An ethnic restaurant -- it's interesting, it shows my date has some creativity, and it won't usually cost too much.
5. Dinner/entertainment for two.
6. Nope.
7. Not really. I did go with my coat-and-tie co-workers to a dance club once, and we felt very old.
8. I will wait in line for the bouncer to check ID and collect cover charges, but I will not wait to be picked out of a line by the bouncer. Nor will I wait too long for people to leave a filled-to-capacity club so that I might go in.
9. I'd love to find a 50's style supper club with a pianist and a dance floor, that somehow catered to the under-40 set, too. Barring that, I'd probably not want to deal with dancing and just do dinner.
10. Recently? Sober. Sometimes buzzed. Never sloppy.

17. Since I'm sure you're dying to know
1. Depends on my mood, generally prefer it loud.
2. Yay!
3. Usually about equal and both usually ridiculously high.
4. I don't remember. ;-)
5. I would plan for about a dozen, but I could do much better than kegs and munchies with the $500. I'm very thrifty and I have friends in high places.
6. No.
7. Yes.
8. I don't wait in line.
9. That would all depend on who the friend was, now wouldn't it?
10. Nice buzz, but not sloppy.

1. Loud music at a restaurant: Annoying

2. Small-plate dining: No opinion either way

3. Which is usually more at a big night out: bar bill, always

4. What's the ideal first-date restaurant? Either just coffee or someplace rather casual and not too expensive.

5. If given $500 to plan an evening, kegs and munchies for dozens

6. Ever been kicked out of a bar or club? Kicked out of the bar my brother bartended at for stealing wineglasses. Kicked out of a friend's bar for being drunk and obnoxious. Kicked out of another place for dancing to the jukebox on the restaurant floor. These were all in my misspent youth however - I have not been thrown out of any place of business in at least ten years.

7. Ever been the odd person out at a club? Often. I used to hang out at a couple of different gay bars because they played good music and I liked a lot of the people.

8. How long are you willing to wait in line to get into a hot new club? I wouldn't wait in line to get in ANY club.

9. If someone asked you to take them to "dinner and dancing," what would you plan? Not to go.

10. Of these three, which are you most likely to be after a night out with friends: A nice buzz and probably the designated driver as well. ~sigh~

edited to add - am I the ONLY person here who's been kicked out of a bar? What's the matter with you people!

6. Nope, I'm not an asshole.

Watched a drag show. It was actually pretty good.

20. Okey dokey -
1. Let's me know it's full of poseurs or college kids, and that thus I should avoid it

2. Just fine with me.

3. Bar bill.

4. Either the four star and expensive or an ethnic restaurant or just coffee. Anyone who takes a girl to a sports bar on a first date should be kicked in the balls by said girl upon entering, and then she should leave and never speak to him again. And any girl that would think that a sports bar is a really bitchin' first date, is not a woman who is worth knowing. And a national chain? Come on - nothing speaks "Asshole consumerist tasteless boor" more than that. Except the sports bar.

5. Dinner for two.

6. No.

7. Yeah - I used to go to gay bars with a gay friend; I actually preferred them over straight bars. Straight bars were filled useless sack-of-shit asshole trying to pick up the miniskirt whores. At least at a gay bar, everyone is honest. And a hell of a lot more fun.

8. I would never wait to get into a club. Any club with that many people that lines form, is obviously a club that is too low class for me.

9. I would plan to take them to dinner someplace nice, then back to my place for some dancing, unless I happened to be in one of those rare towns that actually has a place that one can dance (versus the millions of places where you can gyrate to shitty pop music like a piece of non-staticy cling wrap)

10. Either the designated driver or a nice buzz but not sloppy, if I'm not the designated driver.

21. My answers
1. Loud music at a restaurant: Lets you know that this place is hopping, or distracts you from the food?

As a general rule it’s distracting and I like to have conversations with people over the dinner table. However, that can change depending on my mood and in some cases the company

2. Small-plate dining: Yay or nay?

Either way

3. Which is usually more at a big night out: your food bill or your bar bill?

Food bill

4. What's the ideal first-date restaurant? Four star and expensive; a national chain; a sports bar; an ethnic restaurant; just coffee; something else?

It would probably be in a hotel or cocktail lounge or something along those lines

5. If given $500 to plan an evening, and you had to choose one of the following options or the money would disappear, would you pull out the stops for dinner and entertainment for two, host a dinner party for 15, or kegs and munchies for dozens? Or would you just let the money disappear

If I had a romantic partner, it would be a dinner for two. If not, it would probably be a dinner party for fifteen

6. Ever been kicked out of a bar or club? Why?
Nope

7. Ever been the odd person out at a club? (i.e. at a club that caters primarily to a racial/ethnic group that's not yours; or a woman at a not-very-couples-friendly strip club; a straight person at a gay bar, etc.)

My cousin used to take me to nightclubs when I was thirteen or fourteen –in case you’re wondering, she was very protective and only took me to swanky nightclubs where she knew the clientele and there was no drugs and alcohol whatsoever. So I was the youngest but I was mature for my age so all the people there treated me as their equal

8. How long are you willing to wait in line to get into a hot new club? Are you willing to wait knowing that a bouncer may deem you not one of the cool kids and not let you in?

Believe it or not, I have actually got on well with bouncers in every nightclub I’ve been too! You’d get these tough burly men waving and smiling at me every time I entered and exited a nightclub

9. If someone asked you to take them to "dinner and dancing," what would you plan?

In a romantic case it would be a nice dinner at a classy restaurant followed by coffee and probably a visit to either a club or cocktail lounge with soft music.

10. Of these three, which are you most likely to be after a night out with friends: The designated driver or otherwise sober; a nice buzz but not sloppy; puking in the storm sewer.

I don’t drive but I’m always the sober one

2. Small-plate dining: Yay or nay? Depends on the occasion.

3. Which is usually more at a big night out: your food bill or your bar bill? Food bill- I don't drink much, unless I'm in Chicago. :)

7. Ever been the odd person out at a club? (i.e. at a club that caters primarily to a racial/ethnic group that's not yours; or a woman at a not-very-couples-friendly strip club; a straight person at a gay bar, etc.) Yes. I was the filthy hippy in the hoochie bars back in college.

10. Of these three, which are you most likely to be after a night out with friends: The designated driver or otherwise sober; a nice buzz but not sloppy; puking in the storm sewer. Nice buzz.

25. ...
1. Loud music at a restaurant: Annoys me, and distracts me from the food?
2. Small-plate dining: Yay!
3. Which is usually more at a big night out: Food bill
4. What's the ideal first-date restaurant? Ethnic restaurant.
5. If given $500 to plan an evening, and you had to choose one of the following options or the money would disappear, would you pull out the stops for dinner and entertainment for two, host a dinner party for 15, or kegs and munchies for dozens? Or would you just let the money disappear? Dinner, etc., for two.
6. Ever been kicked out of a bar or club? No. Why? Apparently I'm doing something wrong. :D
7. Ever been the odd person out at a club? (i.e. at a club that caters primarily to a racial/ethnic group that's not yours; or a woman at a not-very-couples-friendly strip club; a straight person at a gay bar, etc.) No, not really.
8. How long are you willing to wait in line to get into a hot new club? Are you willing to wait knowing that a bouncer may deem you not one of the cool kids and not let you in? I don't really go to places like that.
9. If someone asked you to take them to "dinner and dancing," what would you plan? To skip the dancing.
10. Of these three, which are you most likely to be after a night out with friends: A nice buzz, but not sloppy drunk.

26. This survey was made for me....
1. Loud music at a restaurant:

I like it sometimes because it creates a "club" atmosphere, makes dining more interesting because it's an added dimension.

2. Small-plate dining: Yay. Don't like to get stuffed.

3. Which is usually more at a big night out: your food bill or your bar bill?
About equal.

4. What's the ideal first-date restaurant?

Four star and expensive!

5. If given $500 to plan an evening, and you had to choose one of the following options or the money would disappear, would you pull out the stops for dinner and entertainment for two, host a dinner party for 15, or kegs and munchies for dozens? Or would you just let the money disappear?

Anything but kegs and munchies. :eyes:

6. Ever been kicked out of a bar or club? Why?

Pleading the Fifth on this one.

7. Ever been the odd person out at a club? (i.e. at a club that caters primarily to a racial/ethnic group that's not yours; or a woman at a not-very-couples-friendly strip club; a straight person at a gay bar, etc.)

No.

8. How long are you willing to wait in line to get into a hot new club? Are you willing to wait knowing that a bouncer may deem you not one of the cool kids and not let you in?

Like that would happen. *snort*

9. If someone asked you to take them to "dinner and dancing," what would you plan?

Downtown where you can dine out and then bop down the street to the club.

10. Of these three, which are you most likely to be after a night out with friends: The designated driver or otherwise sober; a nice buzz but not sloppy; puking in the storm sewer.

Buzzed and hopefully not passing out.

27. OK here are mine:
1. Total distraction, I absolutely hate it although medium loud music in a Mexican place is OK if it is good Mexican music
2. no particular opinion
3. Food bill, definitely
4. Ethnic or a not terribly expensive steak place
5. Host a dinner party
6. NO
7. No
8. a nanosecond, that is assuming I would even bother to investigate the hot new club in the first place since I do not like clubs
9. crash a wedding? Dinner could be any number of places around town, mostly owner operated. Dancing would be at a non smoking place that isn't a country and western themed place. I don't know that much about the "dancing scene" to really say.
10. DD

4. What's the ideal first-date restaurant? Four star and expensive; a national chain; a sports bar; an ethnic restaurant; just coffee; something else? I must have a coffee date first to see if there's any chemistry nothing is worse than sitting there dreading getting the check, etc.
5. If given $500 to plan an evening, and you had to choose one of the following options or the money would disappear, would you pull out the stops for dinner and entertainment for two, host a dinner party for 15, or kegs and munchies for dozens? 8. How long are you willing to wait in line to get into a hot new club? Are you willing to wait knowing that a bouncer may deem you not one of the cool kids and not let you in? 1. No and no. I want loud music, it should be at a concert.
2. Small food for big price dining is what gets to me. I do like Tapas, though.
3. For me and immediate family, food. For extended family, bar.
4. Ethnic Rest. More Atmospheric and mysterious.
5. dinner party.
6. Nope. Bunch of us got in trouble for throwing ice at a sexist band once, but not deep sixed.
7. I was kind of a maverick, so that used to happen a lot. Used to spend some time in gay bars and I'm straight. Once wore all my thrift store gear to a "big hair" suburban club here ( bf's friend had free tix), that was the last time.
8. Those days are over since I'm a fogie. I hated trendy places when I was younger and still do.
9.good ethnic restaurant, like Indian or Greek food, and then maybe funky alt music bars on the South Side.
10. Pretty much sober, these days. Used to be the nice buzz type back in the day. :)
