Things that annoy everythingsxen - Part 1
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 04:30 PM by everythingsxen
There is currently a commercial airing for Boost mobile that annoys me to no end. It features rapper "Fat Joe"; essentially the crux of the commercials centers around the notion that without Boost mobile, Fat Joe never would have gone to a rap concert and himself become a rapper. In the fantasy of the commercial, he becomes an "animal whisperer" of sorts, communicating with animals and creating harmony between pets and their owners.

The overall message of the commercial however is that doing this sort of "animal counseling" is useless and a waste of time (in the commercial, Fat Joe the animal mediator drives a broken down, falling apart car, while Fat Joe the rapper drives a super-expensive new car), the further suggestion is that being a "gangsta rapper" is a desirable and even positive profession.

I do not fault Fat Joe for this, I doubt he himself created this concept or idea; I do however fault the marketing directors etc. behind this idea. I find the whole thing infuriating and insulting.
