Poll question: How do you connect to DU?
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 02:04 PM by gmoney
Just wondering what percentage of us are on high-speed connections, and what percentage are still on dial-up... and if you use one at home, one at work, vote for the one you use MOST when spending time on DU.

On edit: If I missed your connection method, go ahead and put your vote in under "Don't Know, FAST" or "Don't Know, Slow" -- consider that as meaning that *I* don't know. :)

It's great to be able to sit on the deck or anywhere else in the house and be able to take the machine with you.

17. DSL until next month
Then it's back to cable, thank god. I hate DSL. The cable connection is at least twice as fast and infinitely more reliable.

18. Dail - up
And I don't own an automobile, or a truck.
I walk most places that I need to go.
If it's more than three miles, I'll take the bus.
I'm disappointed that people can't compress their digital photographs
to less than 40k.
It's almost like they expect everyone to have the equilivant of
a hummer of a connection.

Please type slowly, I'm on dial-up.

19. I have the slowest connection in the USA
Thanks to a dirty phone line, my 56K modem gets, at best, 28K.

20. DSL but I'm getting cable soon
because my connection is sllllllllllloooooooooowwwwwwwww. Apparently DSL is faster the closer you are to some phone company magic box that makes it all work (there was technobabble involved but I don't recall the details) and I'm way out on the periphery of the area this box services and the phone lines in this area are old. As a result my DSL isn't wildly better than dial up.

Anywho, cable soon! :woohoo:
