Woohoo! I'm in honors Calc II at Rutgers!
Got my email today - I was accepted into Calc 2 honors at RU! As a freshman! I'm sure it'll be challenging, but I'll enjoy it.

10. wow that looks like a foreign language to me
The most advanced math I've ever taken was pre-calculus in high school and I was damn happy to receive that D on the final. Congrats on getting into Calc II because not everyone can do what you can do!

gets rid of all those nasty sigma summation symbols.

Nice use of the chain rule in examples 2a & 2b.

Are you a math, physics, or engineering major? I assume you have AP credit for Calc I.

12. As a fellow soon-to-be college freshman,
I ask:

Why would you ever do that?

Kidding. :) Math and science just aren't my things. I'm taking General Biology and Liberal Arts and Sciences Calculus this semester, just to get requirements of the way.

Congratulations, though, that sounds like one hell of an accomplishment. Good luck with it. :bounce:

18. I know, you're kidding, but
there is an uncomfortable grain of truth to your statement. The state of our math education system is troublesome. Our culture as a whole dislikes math, while many other cultures value it. That is not good for the US in the long term.

20. Hey guys and gals - thanks for the comments!
Dudley_DUright, actually I'm a biochemistry major. But I'm a math and science guy alike, so when this opportunity came to me I decided to jump on it. Yes, I received credit for Calculus I; 4 credits (5 on Calc AB test). I also received 9 credits for general chem (5 on AP Chem test), 3 credits for Expository Writing (4 on AP English Lit. test) and 4 credits for history (5 on AP USH test). 19 AP credits in all. I was placed into organic chemistry already, but I think I'll wait on that until sophomore year - I'm sure I could get at least a B or so in it, but I want to get used to the college atmosphere before I have to memorize 75 functional groups - hehe.

Go science teachers!! WOOHOO!!
