1. Don't get me wrong, I still love Willy Wonka w/ Gene Wilder...
BUT I just love Johnny Depp, and his Charlie & The Chocolate Factory was a wonderment!

5. that's just it - they were over-produced!
There was ONE oompa loompa computerized into many. I hate that shit. In Willy, there were many little people actors playing oompa loompas and Gene Wilder was a genius and Tim Burton is now on my shit list. :-)

6. I loved Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka
It was hilarious when he would tell the kids not to do dangerous things. He had that look about him that made me crack up. (BTW, just saw him again last night in Blazing Saddles...great stuff).

3. No comparison. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was
the book. I mean, it was what I pictured when I read the book over and over again as a kid. That other version was just wrong (even though I'll give Gene Wilder credit, he was pretty good).

4. Veruca Salt was my favorite character
I took my girls to see Charlie at a drive-in. Saw Willy Wonka (again) this week with them. I like them both. I read the book, but years ago. Maybe it's time to re-read it?
