Any Old Time Punk Rockers Like Me Out There?
Edited on Sat Aug-13-05 10:27 AM by CrackpotAmerica
I used to love T.S.O.L. ~ PUNK's ANSWER TO DISNEYLAND!

It's really strange how their pre heavy metal lyrics hold true today..

For example, here are the lyrics to 2 of my favorite T.S.O.L. songs:

"Abolish Government/Wake Up Silent Majority"
http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/tsol/abolishgovernmentsilentmajority.html

"Weathered Statues"
http://www.skaponk.com/lyrics/5403

If you were listening to Pat Benetar back then, give these songs a try... They are available on I tunes!

1. I was (am) a metalhead...
My thing was Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensryche, Metallica, etc...

Punk was too...anti-melodic for my tastes...with a few exceptions, of course. Yelling to the music was never really my thing.

4. Yes. My sisters and I saw X, Minor Threat, Husker Du, Black Flag
and many other bands. My oldest sister is five years older than me, and she would drive us to all-ages shows. I started going to shows when I was 11. :-)

Saw Patti Smith in 1976 at the Santa Monica Civic for the Radio Ethiopia tour. Was into ProgRock at that point

Saw X, Black Flag, Minutemen, PIL, DKs, The Clash

I was in my early-mid 20s, so I was a bit older than the typical fan at the time.

Also lots of LA art-punk bands - Savage Republic, Food and Shelter, Suburban Lawns, etc.

LA Clubs I went to:
Music Machine
Club Lingerie
ON Club
Club 88
Madame Wong's West (never made it to the original)
Cukoo's Nest (when I lived in OC)
Anti-Club

7. I be an old school punk
Still wear my hawk too.
I loved the Dead kennedys and jello.Still do. TSOL rocks too. Anyone from Baltimore here? remember the Marble bar? Great bands came there..
Alot of fond memories.

It is sad to me today to see young kids who adopt the look of punk and love the music but do not understand what it really means.I take the time to educate them what punk was,and they become more hardcore when they see the culture that was behind the looks and music.

This.. this is just OBSCENE This is what happens when oldschool punks do not enlighted wannabe NAZI punks about how fuckin'STOOOPID they are, about what punk MEANS.

Blood and urine. That was something. What a freaky show. There was a three pronged hook with severed heads on it hanging above the crowd. When they turned it on blood sprayed from every mouth! Pure crazy!

Sleazy P. Matrtini in the house!

11. How about the Brits?
Buzzcocks, Magazine, Clash, Sex Pistols, Wire, Alien Sex Fiend? and of course Joy Division, Echo and the Bunnyman, and New Order--or is that crossing over into some other genre??
