Sometimes I worry about the kids

They don't know anything about the good old days on TV.

You know, when a flushing toilet made us laugh, or flying over Miami Beach to home in on Jackie's stage, or when a theme song could be original and groovy, or even who Irwin Allen was.

I'm afraid that the kids will never understand.

5. Yes indeed

There was a time when situation-comedies didn't need to include a reference to genitals or bodily functions every three minutes and/or at least one vapid slut in the cast to be popular. Dramas had serious plots but didn't feel the need to show graphic blood, corpses and explosions en masse.

I'm not saying I never watch modern TV shows and would never call for any form of censorship. However I have a deep appreciation for many of the classic shows and what they provided, as well as current shows that provide quality entertainment yet remain relatively tame.

6. do you remember the smothers brothers show? They came out

one night and said you will never hear anything on the show you wouldn't hear in your own house. then a toilet flush sound was played. it was the first time ever on network tv. they were anarchists and anti-war way back when.

7. I loved the Smother's Brothers when I was a kid

I loved all variety shows.

I even watched Hee-Haw and Tom Jones.

Music and comedy... The perfect combination for a inner city kid like me.

9. I knew of them but I never saw their show

I must say, even way back then it could be dangerous to promise you wouldn't hear anything on the show you wouldn't hear in your own house. Things weren't as innocent as some would like us to believe.

I was 6 when it went off the air, but my brothers loved it. And David Steinberg getting censored for his stand-up set on the show...
