You might try introducing them more slowly...with treats for both. Have a friend/spouse sit with the one who has been with oyu for the shorter amount of time and you sit with the other. Just let them sit about 10 feet apart and give lots of petting, kind words, and treats. Whenever there is no growling, keep saying "good girl/boy!" and if growling starts, say "no" in a firm voice and seperate them about a foot backwards. Be sure to give the old who has been with you longer plenty of attention (even when the other is not around) so he/she doesn't think this new pet is "replacing" them and get jealous.
It will take patience and perhaps weeks/months, but if you can get them to associate good, positive things when the other is around, it should all work out. I'm still trying to introduce a shelter kitty to my others, and we're on month 4, but she has come a LONG way from the first few meetings. Patience here is key - it will take time but chances are very good they can at least learn to live with each other :)
Good luck to you - let us know how it turns out!
