3. If it is 6" before the inside gets wet, there is time to move it.

A new carpet will cost you at least 250-300 bucks. If the car gets flood damaged, you are looking at losing a lot of the value of your car. I had to put a new carpet in mine because of a thunderstorm that hit a couple of days after hurricane Charley. It was a pain.
