2. Cool!
I have kept mine. When I visited the Wall I had it with me and a voluteer veteran etched my soldiers name for me on paper. Have you seen this site? http://www.thewall-usa.com/

8. It is odd how much
my bracelet meant to me. I wore it for years and years and remember how hard it was emotionally to take it off. You might enjoy the site. I found out a lot about the guy whose name I wore for so long. It is sad but also helped me to put it back in perspective a little.

11. I didn't get much further with info on this site as I wished...
I may not be accessing everything there that's available. I do have the information my sister gave me a while back, but wanted to find out more for myself... she doesn't remember where she found it, and I want to see it for myself. I know it's so incredible how much it means to us, wearing it for many years... and I've had this for about 35 years. Wow.

I did find out there's an "etiquette" for returning the bracelet to the family member if you can find them, or rather you post your info and they really find you... their info is private, but you offer yours. The guy's who's name I've been wearing was ID'd in 1989. Holy crap. What a freakin' long time for that family to wait. My God.

3. I think you should determine the status of the POW. Unfortunately,
I'm still wearing one. My guy has never been found :(

4. I've got 3.
One each from my two trips to The Wall, and one given to me by a friend. Unfortunately, the metal reacts badly with my skin, so I can't wear them.

5. My sister had his name written down and she too had one.

She looked up their status. What was strange was they were randomly given out to she and I, and they both were later found to have died together in a helicopter crash.

Sad.

On edit: my husband said I should wear it now. Is that appropriate? I'd love to honor him. I'd often wondered if he had family and whether they would want it... do you think?

9. Thanks for remembering someone who did what his country ordered
him to do. I lost many comrades in that war and now I'm sad to see others die in a conflict that never should have been.

10. I've been wearing mine since the Iraq mess started.
True Story: I've had mine for almost forty years without really knowing what the date meant. All these years I thought that my guy was missing in action on 1-22-66 and I always imagined he made it back alive. But then we went to the Vietnam memorial this summer and I discovered that he was killed that day. I also learned he was from Texas. I think he was from Houston. I wish I had written it all down. Well, I have an excuse to go back again.
