Pics from last night's b-day party in ATL!

My dad and mom (today is his 85th and her 83rd is 9/19, so we celebrated both last night. I gave them an electronic weather station which they loved!).

My brother watches as his partner fries okra.

Nick-Nick strikes a gay pose in the gay guy's house after a dip in the pool.

Sirius by the pool this morning in Atlanta.

2. Looks like fun!
Sirius looks good. I looked and looked for more threads on him and I am so happy to see him.

An electronic weather station, what a cool gift.

3. That is too cool
Congratulations on your parents' birthdays! An entomologist, did you say? I have a secret longing to be an entomologist, but don't tell anyone.

What did your dad do in the war? My stepfather was a glider pilot and visits Atlanta almost every month. I bet they could talk eachother's ears off. Dad is 83, and would sooner talk about the Civil War, but he's got a lot of amazing stories about the one he was in, and he's the yellowest yellow-dog fire-breathing democrat you ever met in your life. One of my favorite people on earth.

7. Dr. HHT was an artillery officer.
He did North Africa and Italy. He was wounded in Italy and recovered in a field hospital. Later he was captured by the Germans and escaped. He was in one of the first units to walk into Dachau near Munchen. He is my hero. After my 250 missions in Vietnam, I am his. Funny how that works.

8. Dad is blind in that eye.
I think he is trying .. sub-conscientiously .. to replace that vision.

9. Macular degeneration or detached retina?
My late father pretty much ended up blind in that eye after he had cataract surgery and then a detached retina in the same eye.

11. That's too bad.
My :loveya: 's father has MD in both eyes and the sons took his car away about a year ago. My father gave up his car after he had a couple accidents and got a police summons to bring his car downtown. I talked with a cop neighbor with the traffic division and he got my father (and me...driving him downtown and taking a day off work) to get out of the police visit...as long as my father gave up driving. He did...and gave the car to my nieces. But it wasn't easy.

It is good that your father compensates well. It's not easy.
