Chris, who used to go under the name of YoungLiberal16, once called me a geezer and told me to "get back in my cage" because my musical tastes weren't hip enough for him - all it good fun; it still cracks me up to think about it :D

21. Well, I am rather PROUD that I have stayed up pretty well

with "modern rock" - and listen to the same radio station that my college-aged son does.

28. You can't help it, you know. The songs from when we were in

high school are ingrained in our psyches... and you play some of them for your kids (and you and your spouse know every single word, and guitar riff, and drum roll) and your kids are rolling their eyes with this "what the hell IS this music" look on their faces... Then my daughter is like, "Wasn't this on that "I Love the 80's" show?"

Gotta love it!

29. well
I know plenty of youngsters who appreciate classic rock - because they know good music, regardless of what time period it is from.

12. So, I heard this birthday should be difficult...
but it hasn't been. I look young (and feel younger since I gave up sugar and refined carbs).

What WAS rather "weird" was the day my son moved all his stuff out of the house in the fall last year. That gives a mother pause, and the creepy empty nest feeling for a few days.

14. Oh Baby...stick your head in gravy..!
Feels weird, don't it? LOL join the new "bracket" 40+

Stretch every morning after a warm shower provides the flexibility to do that, then repeat shower to loosen the muscles after you stretch, so they don't tighten up worse. You'll be very clean and be able to walk up the stairs.

Awwwww, Happy Birthday anyway.

yes, I am punchy about now.

Goodnight and celebrate... it's really a terrific age. You are now officially SMART.

PSSST...I do not lead by example.

22. Yep. When does that happen...you know, the day
you start groaning whenever you try to stand up from sitting in a deep cushy chair? Or worse, if you drop something on the floor, and you're like, "just leave it".

26. ha ha. My hair has gotten thinner - so there was some loss

involved. I used to have such thick hair, I would break the ponytail holders -- now I have to do that "ratting" fluffing thing that we used to do in the '80's to have the big Texas hair!

I'm fairly sure that's what an aging population tells itself, anyway.

I am sure that brown is the new black.

33. Know what? I'm looking forward to 40.
My 30's were fantastic, amazing. I learned so much.

I grew.

I became me.

The 40's are for tweaking.

Bring it on!! I'm not scared.

Happy birthday, baby!!

45. My inlaws are in their 60's (very young 60-year-olds) and they

tend to think my husband and I are just puppies. They still ask if we need money, etc.

Anyway, my son has been out of the house for two years, and my daughter is fifteen and a half. So, in three years, I will have an empty nest. Forty-three seems rather young to have the whole child-rearing phase over with --there will be plenty of time for tweaking this decade, as you say.

46. Alles Gute zum Geburtstag!

I went to Hamburg for a week in July with a large group from work (we were having an Airbus delivered). I had such a great time, and I had so many wonderful discussions (many about GWB) with Germans of all ages at varous restaurants and bars (some in the red zone). People were extraordinarily friendly.

47. Well, I will do more than my share for 2006 CO-04 and gov races!

Hackett's race shows us that Musgrave might be vulnerable, especially since she voted for CAFTA. I don't live in that district, but she's so hateful and giving Colo a black eye - so she has to go.

I'm 36 tomorrow myself.

Did you know you share your birthday with Napoleon Bonaparte (b 1769), and also these other famous people?

Walter Scott -- writer (1771)
Ethel Barrymore -- actress (1879)
Edna Ferber -- author (1887)
T. E. Lawrence -- adventurer (1888)
Julia Child -- chef (1912)
