question about music transfer....
Can anyone point me to what equipment/software one would need to load 33s onto a computer so that they can then be burned onto a CD?

Totally clueless about this, and had no success googling -- poor choice of words, I'm afraid!

Thanks in advance to any and all!

4. Well, of course you need a turntable,
and an amplifier with earphones jack.
The sound from the earphones needs to come into your computer in the microphone input (usually a "mini plug", like walkman ear buds plug).

I personally use Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition's analog recorder. It is not very fancy (not much equalization) but it works fine for my purpose, which is to transfer cassettes to my computer. It is not very expensive

I then use Windows Media Player 10 (free on microsoft.com) to burn a CD on my laptop (which runs Windows XP)

I know a lot of people on this board don't like Microsoft Products, so maybe they can post Mac and Linux equivalents :)

I got as far as needing the turn-table, but was lost beyond that!

Musically impaired, but trainable,
