1 liter super petro in our state = 1.56 Swiss Francs
1 Swiss Franc = 0.793589 US dollar
3.785 liters = 1 US gallon

So we're whining over here about $2.60 per gallon and creeping upwards. While the rest of the world has dealt with prices over twice that for - how long?! My god, what a bunch of spoiled whiners we are. Pray god that all this means SUVs on scrap heaps.

9. Well, my take on it is this

(and I hope someone will start a seperate thread, so some economists can weigh in) our culture has a Wal-Mart mentality. We buy fuel in bulk and we bully oil-supplying nations into meeting our selfish demands, while the rest of the world (including us Americans here in Switzerland) underwrite the huge disparity between $2.60 per gallon and $4.68 per gallon.

I don't even own a car here. Mass transit, even in my small village (population 250 plus one red-headed American), is absolutely excellent. :shrug:
