I can't believe this. I have a friend who is also a colleague, albeit in another department and another building. She only works part-time. We also took a class together.

This morning I received an e-mail in her name that contradicts some things we have talked about face to face, or that I know about her. I know she didn't write this e-mail.

She's on vacation now, so I don't want to bother about it, but this took some nerve - pretending to be my friend and not even bothering to get the facts right! This person doesn't even know my job duties or what businesses I deal with. I am sure it is a forgery. I'm guessing that someone is spying on her for business reasons? They seem really interested in the businesses she and I deal with.

1. Did it come from her e-mail address?
That should give you a clue.

2. That sucks. I hope you can track it down.
I'm super careful with company e-mails. At the last company I worked for, their policy was pretty much the following:

"Don't send any e-mails that you wouldn't want on the company bulletin board."

Good advice.

:)

from my six month old nephew a couple of years ago. I have an unusual last name - and there are no others with my nephew's name.

precocious little bugger! And WHAT do YOU think a six month old would be obsessed with?

Thas right . . .older women with jugs

5. Personally, I'd report it to your tech department.
that's a firable offense in some workplaces. Plus, they'd be in the best place to do the detective work to find out who it was.

your supervisor should also know.

the only reason NOT to would be if the topic of the email is something you'd rather keep private.
