Things you have to do before you die
Please add to the list

1 - Ride a vespa through the streets of Rome

2 - Swim in Lake Tahoe...if only for 5 seconds

3 - Ride a mountain bike through the hills of Mae Hong Son wasted on Opiumated Thai Stick (OK...you don't HAVE to do this, but it sure was fun)

4 - See one of the following bands live: Phish, Ween, Grateful Dead, Medeski Martin and Wood, Bruce Springsteen

5 - Attend a protest for something you feel passionate about

6 - Go skinny dipping with others

1. I've only done #4 & 6, so far.....
Let me add, do something for yourself that surprises others as being out of character.

Visit and/or live someplace that isn't your native language and culture!

11. You had lunch with Todd Rundgren...?
Most cool.

Back in the day (the early 70's) my college roomate (a very big Rundgren fan) introduced me to TR's music. Whoo! I've never been to one of his concerts, but I'm sure they rocked.

I hear TR's now into some kind of interactive programming thing -- somehow music related.

I was once the Production Manager for a company ....
...that made TR's preferred mixing console, at the time.

So he stopped by when he was in town and we had lunch and talked about the new console he was ordering.

He's always been a big influence. Great guy too.

And he did buy the board.

Seriously... it's not in my game plan for this year or next, but hopefully the following year.

I'd also like to see the Great Wall of China, go on a safari, and skydive.

13. Exactly
I used to live at a school right on the lake, and every year we had a tradtion - first snowfall - we would swim naked in the lake.

It was cold, but surprisingly warmer than it was outside.

40 degrees farenheit, year round

Piece of advise: when going downhill, when you see the turn, don't expect that your mind will do the necessary thought processes in order to make that turn - override the manual controls and just turn.

1. meet lunar astronaut--done, Alan Bean (Apollo 12) at a book signing and James Lovell (Ap. 8, 13) at the dedication of a planetarium.

2. write novel-- working

3. invent a religion-- working

4. climb Mt. McKinley-- one step at a time. This Xmas it will be Bright Angel trail at Grand Canyon.

5. trace the route of Jeanne D'Arc

6. plant hardwood trees where a cluster development or a Sprawlmart used to be (hey, I can dream can't I)

7. command a naval ship or a regiment in battle-- never going to happen. Asthma kept me out of the military.

8. Go back in time to talk to Lincoln only to be told by his secretary that Lincoln no longer entertains visits from time travelers.

31. Damn only got 1/6 (Number 5)
I'm only likely to add number 6 to that list as well :hide:

My list-

1. Attend Der Ring des Nibelungen at Beyreuth.

2. Learn a foreign language to fluency.

3. Meet some of the wonderfully spiffing DUers.

4. Visit every continent (excluding Antartica - I don't like the cold, and I'm only really interested in observing other cultures).

5. Climb a large mountain (as in bigger than the widdy little ones we have in the U.K.).

6. Get my score in the sleaze test over 100.

35. Watch the sun set over the Grand Canal in Venice
and then wander the calles at night, when no one but you and the cats are out and about, and the iron cages on the lights cast weird shadows on the old buildings.

I'm doing my other dream next month, which is spend a week horseback riding on a Wyoming dude ranch.

I'd second the Springsteen listing, but add that you need to see him with the E Street Band, (or at very least, with Clarence Clemons)...
