6. 10 random answers
1. What subject matter is on your desk calandar at work (at home by your computer if you don't have a work desk)

Random low-level works of art - it's a company calendar.

2. Apples or Oranges? Discuss

They serve utterly different purposes. For example, one could hardly eat an orange with cheese at the end of a good meal - yet an apple is utterl perfect in such a role. Thus is demonstrated the saying that they cannot be compared.

3. If you had $10k to take your dream vacation where would you go and what one other person would you take?

Florence, I have nobody particular in mind - but s/he would have to be at least moderately knowledgeable about art and architecture, and interested therein, plus drink like a fish and enjoy life.

4. What place have you lived at the longest in your life

Aylesbury, Bucks. (just a wee while north from where I live now) - lived there for 9 years.

5. What is the first album you ever bought - what medium was it on (ie - vinyl, cassette, 8-track, cd, etc)

Never bought an 'album' per se, first music I bought was (I think) a set of baroque violin concerti (mostly Vivaldi).

6. What is one TV show on today that you watch faithfully

None. The nearest thing is probably The West Wing, but Channel4 (the U.K. station which shows it) keeps messing up the schedule to an utterly appaling extent, and the D.V.D. of the next series will be out before they bother to show it (if they even do).

7. What was the name of your first boyfriend/girlfriend - whatever happened to that relationship?

Lynsey, uhm, she was a girl, and whilst I didn't quite realise that I was gay at the time - things did fizzle out shockingly quickly.

8. What is your favorite card game?

Snap - whilst all participants are slightly intoxicated.

9. How old where you when you realized there was no tooth fairy but your parents putting money under your pillow. When you learned the truth, did you let your parents know or kept quiet so you'd still get the money

Pretty young - I kept up the pretence. I still get a stocking from Father Christmas to this very day (and I leave him a mince pie and glass of sherry too).

10. If a picture paints 1000 words then why can't I paint you?

Simple - I'm far more than a 1000 words.

What is your favorite card game? euchre

How old where you when you realized there was no tooth fairy but your parents putting money under your pillow. When you learned the truth, did you let your parents know or kept quiet so you'd still get the money. i remember huge portions of my childhood, but i have no memory whatsoever of this.

If a picture paints 1000 words then why can't I paint you? because you are not skilled as an artist?

1. My home calendar has pretty flowers on it. It's from the Easter Seals people.
2. Oranges. They have a more intense flavor and they're fun to peel.

4. Lafayette, LA. Born and raised. 27 years there.
5. Hmmm. I think it was Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation. Or, *sob* NKOTB. Both on cassettes.
6. That 70s Show
7. His name was Fallon. We dated when I was 17-19. I finally woke up one day and realized how boring he was. He wasn't right for me at all, and he never was. I just started dating the first guy who ever asked me out.
8. Go Fish. I'm traditional like that.
9. Jeez, I don't remember that.
10. I'm invisible.

27. Mine....
1. What subject matter is on your desk calandar at work (at home by your computer if you don't have a work desk)

I use an online calendar only. So, just the facts ...

2. Apples or Oranges? Discuss

In another couple of weeks or so -- apples come into season!

3. If you had $10k to take your dream vacation where would you go and what one other person would you take?

I'd say Spain (which is where I really want to go right now), but I could probably do that with my own funds. So, if I had $10,000 in travel vouchers handed to me, I'd go to Japan and take my SO.

4. What place have you lived at the longest in your life

Arlington Heights, IL (11 years).

5. What is the first album you ever bought - what medium was it on (ie - vinyl, cassette, 8-track, cd, etc)

I had quite a few cassettes and some vinyl bought on my behalf -- but I did spend my own money on a cassette of Run-DMC's "Raising Hell."

6. What is one TV show on today that you watch faithfully

Arrested Development and The Daily Show

7. What was the name of your first boyfriend/girlfriend - whatever happened to that relationship?

Sean Rice. He broke up with me on the phone by telling me he didn't like me as much as he thought I did. No idea what happened to him.

8. What is your favorite card game?

I used to play euchre; not so much anymore.

9. How old where you when you realized there was no tooth fairy but your parents putting money under your pillow. When you learned the truth, did you let your parents know or kept quiet so you'd still get the money

I figured out the tooth fairy early, as I was raised Jewish and knew from the start the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus were myths. It wasn't much of a leap for me to realize that the Tooth Fairy was as well. My parents knew I knew but gave me the money anyway -- even left me a quarter when I got my wisdom teeth out at 17.

10. If a picture paints 1000 words then why can't I paint you?

Because.

46. My husband and I broke up a few times, and
we dated other people. So I have had other boyfriends. But my husband and I kept coming back to each other! But we did see other people.

And I love golf. And I forgot to mention spades. I am good at both of those games. Most others I suck at.

Oranges. I like citrus fruits! :D

3) If you had $10k to take your dream vacation where would you go and what one other person would you take?
a tour of Spain and France, starting in Andalusia (the birthplace of Flamenco), continuing up the Mediterranean coast thru Valencia to Catalonia, then north through France to Paris. I would take one very special person who I met on DU (don't worry-- you'll find out eventually)

My childhood home, from 1970-1990.

I bought a Mamas and Papas Greatest Hits LP in 1977 when I was 8-- on vinyl, of course!

probably The Simpsons-- but even then I haven't seen it in a couple months. I don't watch much TV anymore.

7) What was the name of your first boyfriend/girlfriend - whatever happened to that relationship?
the first "real" girlfriend I had of any consequence was Inga, when I was a freshman in college. we only lasted a couple months, be she was the first woman i ever got past first base with. I see her at various reunions and such-- she's happily married and has one child. :)

8) What is your favorite card game?
i don't play cards much. does Freecell count?

9) How old where you when you realized there was no tooth fairy but your parents putting money under your pillow. When you learned the truth, did you let your parents know or kept quiet so you'd still get the money?
probably five or so. i kept my mouth shut so i'd keep getting paid.

10) If a picture paints 1000 words then why can't I paint you?
you're probably out of "fat bastard fuscia" :silly:
