Driver Gets 20 Tickets In 5 Minutes
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 01:09 PM by matcom
<snip>

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. -- It was a fast five minutes for Joseph Siragusa. He got 20 traffic tickets in the time it takes some people just to find their car keys.

Police in the Town of Highlands, N.Y., said Siragusa broke just about every rule of the road.

He was finally stopped by military police after a chase that topped more than 90 mph.

Siragusa was also cited for passing on the right, failure to stay in lane, drunken driving and possession of marijuana.

Siragusa might have been celebrating. According to the Middletown Herald Record, Siragusa's three-year probation for grand larceny had just ended.

1. I once got 6 tickets in one stop
It came to $180 in fines. ~sigh~ If I remember correctly they were -

Driving on a suspended license
Driving an unregisterred vehicle
Altered plate
False inspection sticker
No insurance
Plate no belonging to the vehicle.

At least they weren't moving violations... O8)

3. What were you, in your late teens early 20s?

4. All those violations for $180 in fines? What a bargain.
How long ago did this happen? and in what state, if you don't mind me asking?

7. Actually, I was 37 (blush)
It was '98 and in Vermont. I was in the midst of a major manic-depressive episode and my sister who lived about 20 miles away had pissed me off on the phone. I really needed to go see her and tell her off but didn't have a car in which to do it. There was a junk parked out in front of my house that my ex had left there so I put an old truck plate on it, fashioned an inspection sticker out of construction paper and blazed down the road in it, all full of righteous anger.

I was pulled over within about ten minutes, the cop was actually very kind and slightly amused at my ingenuity and I'm probably fortunate I never got to my sister's place as I was in no shape to be confronting anyone.

It was not a good time in my life and I'm thankful it ended without any real problems - fines and tickets were enough. I'd suffered from bipolar illness for many years but had only been diagnosed that summer when I had a major meltdown which this was all part of. Meds and counselling helped save my life and what little sanity I had left - though I'm sure Tom Cruise would disapprove.

6. I had a friend who went through something like this.
He was well known as a trouble maker with our local police. One very drunken night he ripped the 6 volt battery out of a 4 wheeler "power wheels" toy and replaced it with two 12 volt car batteries. He then took of on the road going over 60 downhill. It was quite a thing to see. 17 tickets - speeding, no lights, no license, DUI etc. I think he got 6 months county time for that deal.
