7. Sports metaphors of all types.
From baseball: "step up to the plate", "Hit a home run", "knocked one out of the park", etc; from boxing, "toe the line", "on the ropes", "delivered a knockout punch", "not up to scratch", "throw in the towel", "down for the count", "below the belt"...and so on.
