Where does it come from?

Why am I so out of touch???

(Seriously, I've seen this written online before and been slightly curious -- but a friend just emailed me and ended the message with "woot, woot" and I have no idea what it really means.)

among my real-life peer group, 'woot' (or more recently 'w00t')
is an expression of mild success, but referring to short-nosed house dogs such as pugs and boston terriers.

these dogs often spontaneously go 'w00t!' in their sleep, which is the cutest thing ever.
