What have you listened to today?
Haven't seen this topic, even in my searching.

I've heard stuff from:

Sofia Loell - not impressed; sounds like weaker version of the Corrs (Corrs are a favorite of mine)

Hilary Duff - Most Wanted: never liked any of the original songs, which are made worse - and the three new ones aren't anything special either

Hootie And The Blowfish - Looking for Lucky: it's not bad, but not quite as good as Cracked Rear View. Not sure I'll buy it.

Otherwise, haven't had much time for the CDs I own today.

Also listened to War by U2 in the morning. And a little Radiohead (OK Computer).

18. Check out
Last Letter Home by the Dropkick Murphys and do the back story on it. Brought me to tears when I knew the story and heard it. Their latest aumis very subtly anti war, a great band if you don't know them. If you like the Clash, I am sure you will be a fan.

I got a couple of their cds from the library because they looked interesting. They're pretty good. After this I might go with some Dream Theater or Elvis Costello.

Estonian bagpipes (sounds like stoned pipers banging on a bag o' cats)

and Tuvan throat singing. If you don't know what it is, you DON'T want to know...

Just rummaging through my library of world's worst music to get even with a coworker

don't ask...

Pretty eerie stuff, especially the way they can keep it going with that "circular breathing" trick they do...

39. Jason Mraz!
I'd never heard of him before July 14. Then, I saw him open for Alanis Morrisette.

Damn, he's great!

He played with one arm in a sling, just him with an acoustic guitar and simple percussion accompaniment. He could've done a lot more than his 40 minute opening set, no one would've cared...

INFORMATION WARS

Give us twenty minutes and we'll give you the world
We bring good things to life
The news you need from people you can count on
Doing what we do best

The heartbeat of America
Your true voice
You're in good hands
Now more than ever before

And in the flickering light and the comforting glow
You get the world every night as a TV show
The latest spin on the shit we're in, blow by blow
And the more you watch, the less you know

Beyond the hundred million darkened living rooms
Out where the human ocean roars
Into the failing light, the generations go
Heading for the information wars

Do people really spend millions upon millions
To make us think we care about the planet
At the same time polluting and looting the only world we've got
So they can maximize their profit?
People do.

The heartbeat of America
Your true voice
For the life of your business
It's everywhere you want to be

And there's a front row seat for the precious few
The latest war as a pay-per-view
Famine and disaster right in front of you
And the more you watch, the less you do

Beyond the hundred million darkened living rooms
Out where the human ocean roars
Into the failing light, the generations go
Heading for the information wars

26. What have I listened to? Complaints, whines, unsubstantiated
accusations, spleen-filled retorts, bullheaded optimism, cynical pessimism, unwarranted attacks, unorganized defenses, pandering pronouncements, bloviated blusterings, smarmy suck-ups, hesitant half-truths, bald-faced lies, unabashed unctuousness, and last but not least, gibbering gossip.

37. My first post......
Well, this week I just got "GS I LOVE YOU 2" a sequel to the 1st one, all songs by asian(mostly japanese) garage rock acts in the early to mid 60's. Reigning Sound-Time bomb high school;the mummies-never been caught; Those are all CDs tho, the only real music Ive bought lately was at a yard sale for 1.00: Merle Haggard-Songs I love to sing-on 2 records. check out the used listings on amazon for cheap(er) cds, save a buck or 2. I really dig sirius, but they do seem to repeat the same"blocks"(3 hours) of music over and over. And over. For months. I think sooner or later XM and SIRIUS will merge, just like directtv and ussb did. And by then it will all be owned by murdoch anyway.
