True, but that's the safest way to put it online. If you say you're in love with someone you've never met, you could be perceived as mental. If you say you're in lust, you could be perceived as a stalker.

Besides, if you ever meet this person IRL and they turn out to be an idiot, saying it was just a crush gives you an out.
