6. How much of that is taxes? |
|
Ed Schultz and Larry Kolb (guest on The Young Turks) said we should have had a tax on gas to at least we would have been getting the money instead of the Saudis, etc. Kolb was an assistant Secretary of Defense under Reagan. He didn't have much good to say about the neocons' strategies, either.
Schultz also said we could pay for health care and other social programs with a gas tax. I don't know how other countries tax gasoline.

11. I'm not sure how much - a lot |
|
The cost of a barrel of oil is the same for us. There are lots of different taxes applied to our gas but it is hard to tell how much because they are all rolled into the price per litre. I know we have our GST which is 7%, Vancouver has a transit tax, there is a portion that's tagged for debt reduction...

Hell, even living where the Target store around the corner has an oil pump in the parking lot doesn't help much. Or the refineries a few miles away. They're going to gouge ya.

14. I honestly have no idea |
|
I don't pay much attention to it unless there are several gas station choices. I fill up everytime and that I notice ($25 to now what $35  ) other than that it isn't worth worrying about because I have to buy it either way*.
* I would of course like gas to cost less especially due to the fact that the OIL COMPANIES ARE FUCKING RIPPING US OFF AND MAKING THE MOST LAME ASS EXCUSES FOR IT AND WE HAVE TO FUCKING PAY THEIR TAXES other than that I don't pay it much mind.

Doesn't sound like much but the average person only makes about $8 an hour around here so it's hurting alot of people. I went to the local bike shop the other day (layaway a new bike for Christmas for my daughter) and he said he's making a killing right now.

29. Gas Prices are Mr. Bush's fault |
|
Gas is extremely expensive. I heard that it will go to $3.00 soon and that will just be the regular price of gas from now on. Isn't that weird??!!! But does Mr. Bush care?> NO! He doesn't care about true Americans. I post frequently on another website and somebody pointed out something very true and made a good point. How comes conservatives give all the credit to Mr. Bush about all the GOOD things (that he had nothing to do with in the first place) and the high gas prices are President Clinton's fault according to the Republicans?! Conservatives just don't make sense. Thanks for posting updates on the gas prices. Keep up the good work :)
