Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 08:54 PM by BullGooseLoony
This guy "Beasley" that's supposed to be living at my house. I can't get enough of saying it.

Sing it, people. BEASLEY!

What real name makes you crack up?

No, seriously....REAL names, that just sound funny enough to make you laugh?

78. In elementary school, I had a teacher named Ivana Yakoff
I saw her years later at a reunion and asked her if she was aware of the jokes that people had made about her name (she was married by the time of the reunion and was no longer a Yakoff). She explained to me that she was a first generation Ukranian immigrant, and that her family had escaped the post-Stalinist USSR and made it to the US when she was 12. She said the jokes about her name bothered her at first, but she quickly learned to ignore them...at first from her peers, and then later from her students. She knew the joking was happening, but didn't care.

69. NMN
My old college roommate swears this is true.

He was working at a bank, opening new accounts, when this guy comes in. My roommate is taking all the information from the guy, and when it comes to his middle name, the guys says, "NMN." Pronounces like you were saying "Newman" but not articulating the vowels.

NMN? My roommate asks? The guy says yes, and pulls out a copy of his birth certificate. It says "NMN" and at the bottom, the fine print explains that "NMN" is the standard abbreviation for "No Middle Name." The guy's gone his who life thinking his middle name is "NMN."

My roommate can't help it and bursts out laughing. The guy gets pissed and leaves the bank.

44. I agree
It was Bill Lear.

In 1938, she met William P. Lear, Sr., inventor of the world's first workable automobile radio (1922), backstage at "Hellzapoppin," shortly after it opened at the 46th Street Theater in New York City, and four years later, they were married. The Lears raised four children together: John, Shanda, David and Tina, and for the next three and a half decades, lived a whirlwind life travelling all over the globe while Bill continued his work as an inventor and designer.

Colonel Hassle was in charge of issuing wetland permits. At the time, they involved the biggest bureaucratic hassles. He was an officer in the Army Corps of Engineers.

There is also a lawyer in PA. with the name Kirby Upright. I don't know if his name came before or after the vacuum cleaner.
