After having just watched "Sin City" I have to say....
that Jessica Alba is so sexy she should be declared illegal.

Also, this was an interesting film. At first I thought the voiceover was going to get old, but it worked well. It's an entertaining film, very visual, with rich characters and even richer cinematography. It isn't Academy Award stuff. Too violent and full of action for that, but it has a nice blend of surreal characters with real themes. Love. Hate. Societal outcasts. Very seedy characters take on a certain heroic light. A stripper takes on a degree of innocence. Full of paradoxes like that. Robert Rodriguez is always a director with a vision, and is always interesting to watch, whether he is totally on or not. I recommend it. It's not for everyone of course, but it is entertaining.

And, yeah, ......Jessica Alba.... lost my train of thought....

1. She's a very pretty young lady.

4. yeah she looks good for sure
I saw her on "Punk'd" though, and she acted pretty stuck up. Such a turn off. Of course, she was in a odd situation though. :)

6. So funny you should mention that Punk'd!
I honestly have never looked at her the same since I saw that. I thought she had a very bratty, nasty, snotty attitude on that. I haven't really liked her since. Sad too, as I liked her a lot in 'Never Been Kissed.'

I like Punk'd. I think Ashton is doing a great public service by giving some of these celebs a reality check, and by showing the public another side to some of them.

19. Granted I don't know how I would react if some guy was naked
and prancing around a store I was shopping in (lol), but she just seemed to have a funky attitude irregardless...oh well.

things kind of flip and flop around, so I imagine that could be distracting. She was acting witchy though I thought.

29. No, you're right, she definitely was.
To me, it seemed that she wasn't even moved by the naked guy. She just seemed concerned about getting the free clothes she was offered. As if there could have been a dozen naked guys there, she wouldn't have cared, as long as she got her loot.

I particularly hated the way she kept saying,'no.' The WAY she said it more so than the fact than she was saying it.

32. oohhhhh
you hit it exactly. She'd say it like "newwww". Oh gosh that drove me nuts. Just made me sick hearing a grown woman talk like a spoiled 7th grader. Yuk. Total turn off.

2. Robert Rodriguez is one of my favorite directors
Just about everything from "El Mariachi" on that he's done has been brilliant; I'm going to get this for sure.

And yeah she's beautiful, but she's no Salma Hayek:)

3. Salma Hayek...now there
is a woman who might have a little sex appeal, ya think?

I figured you'd be an El Mariachi fan. Really a great film. Rodriguez has some serious vision. If you get a chance -if you haven't yet - watch "Once Upon A Time In Mexico" and watch all the special features on how he makes his films. It is fascinating. He goes and talks about using High Definition digital video and so on. Since you do all of your stuff out of the house, you'd appreciate how he set up his own studio, does his music and stuff right there. Sickeningly talented guy. You should also check out "Full Tilt Boogie" the documentary about "From Dusk Till Dawn." I think it's on the extra features of that film too. It's about as entertaining as "FDTD" is, it's that much fun.

5. Believe it or not, I watched that last night!
His cinematic eye is so laser-like and it's hypnotic to watch. "I love "Desperado" too, even though it's just a remake of "El Mariachi"; they way he uses music to set up the scenes is perfect, and Salma Hayek...........oy:)

7. Salma is the whole package--
She's beautiful inside and out, and she's incredibly smart. I've enjoyed several interviews she's participated in. I was blown away by what I've seen of Frida--amazing lady, Salma.

So glad she dumped Norton.

10. which one did you watch?
Full Tilt Boogie?

He is damn good with music. Salma's little dance number in "FDTD" is, uh... well, eye popping to say the least. Something was definitely popping, that's for sure. Flawless body.

She seems to be a very intelligent woman too. I like that. As bliss says, she's a "total package."

Rodriguez was born to be a filmmaker. He's creative in so many other ways, but if Rodriguez wasn't doing film, he wouldn't be whole. Some people are like that, they were just meant to do something. He's a natural visionary. I'd like to see him do something really serious. Such as and adaptation of "Love In The Time of Cholera" or something. I was just thinking tonight that I've always wanted to adapt Marquez's novel into a screenplay, and if I could pick anybody to direct it, I would want Robert Rodriquez to do it.

12. "Once Upon A Time In Mexico"
It was on Movie Central last night, so we watched it while eating dinner. I've seen parts of "Full-Tilt Boogie" on IFC, but I haven't really sat down and watched it; I should..

22. Check out "Chingon"
if you haven't yet. That is Robert Rodriguez's band. They have a CD out called "Mexican Spaghetti Western" and performed the mariachi song "Malaguena Salerosa" that play over the credits of Kill Bill Volume 2. Salma Hayek sings a track on the CD.

Rodriguez is truly the pioneer of HD filmmaking although Lucas has more money than Rodrigues to invest in developing new technology Rodriguez is leading the way but I very much doubt filmmaking with film is going to go away anytime soon, which is a good thing.

24. yeah I heard some of his stuff
I'd love to get an HD camera and direct some stuff. If I get a chance to direct the novel that I'm adapting into a screenplay I'd want to do it in HD. My video/film skills are rusty though. I haven't done any of that stuff in a few years.

25. HD is great for low budget
and allows more people to make films. I am also an aspiring filmmaker and have and will utilize HD but would eventually love to shoot a film on 35mm.

26. film is beautiful
I directed a music video using beta sp and some Excel 1 footage. Video can look really great, it just depends on the skills of the director and the DP. HD is another breed though. You get stuff to really pop out. Great for shooting at night. Lots of video looks like shit at night. The camera's just can't pick stuff up. HD is awesome though. Michael Mann shot "Collateral" in HD and that film, while it had it's flaws, still looked great.

But, there is just something about the way 35mm looks and moves. You can really tell the difference in the frames per second if you have a trained eye. I just think film moves in such a cool way. Hard to explain, but you probably get what I mean.

27. I worked with a professional DP for a class I took
and asked him how soon it would be until HD overtook film. He said he doubts it would happen in my lifetime. "Collateral" did look very good and it was nice to see a film shot in the real world, unlike Sin City or the SW Prequel Trilogy, on HD. The future is promising because of the technology but film still reigns supreme.

31. I worked with a pro DP
and director on a short film I did some grip work on for the Seattle International Film Festival, I might send you the link, you can still watch it online. But, anyway, the DP wasn't too happy with the camera. It was an Excel 1.

Film is still film. You won't see it overtaken anytime soon. You got that right.

13. Oh I bet it was
I don't know why I didn't get around to seeing it. I just don't go to many films nowadays. I rent tons of them though. I think it's just too expensive to go all that often for me, being a student etc. You pay one price at Blockbuster now, and you can rent all that you want. The visuals in this film were outta sight.

17. Interesting movie, but I didn't love it
I usually don't mind violence in movies, but I thought this one was over the top at times...

Also, even though I grew up reading comics books, I didn't realize that the characters had superpowers, so I was caught a bit by surprise by that.

They did a great job of recreating Frank Millers art. And as good looking as Jessica is in that Franks women are even more so.
