Every month without fail the day before i start my period i get a migraine, it started yesterday morning with a dull ache behind my left eye and by the afternoon it was full on, does this ever happen to you and if so is it fairly common? Thanks:)

1. Reduce the amount of salt you eat
The headaches are caused by additional water weight swelling your tissues, even on the brain. You could also try a natural diaretic, like cramberry juice.

2. Yes, that happens to me, too.
It's even the left eye for me, too, usually.

3. Quite common;
but you might want to see if there is a med for this (I don't usually recommend running to the doc for every little thing; but this is recurring) I think they now call this PMDD (not sure what last D is)and I think they have taliored a med for it already. Check it out.(run google on PMDD symptoms too)

4. For me, the migraine was the sign of things to come
Every month, I'd be puking from the migraine on the day that I started.

I had a hysterectomy at the age of 29. I'm a much happier woman now.

5. I've never had migraines and am not an expert, but I do know
that there is a correlation concerning estrogen/progesterone levels--which drop suddenly before your period. So there is a good chance that there is a relationship between where you are in your cycle and the incidence of migraine onset. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon!

9. Bingo
It's the surge in hormones that causes the migraine. After they were done with me, I had one ovary left. I don't have to take hormones, and I hardly ever get migraines anymore.

I get the "aura" over the left eye (again the left side:) And that lasts all of about 1/2 hour, but the dull ache of the headache will will stay with me for a couple of days if I don't take something for it.

Exercise does help. So, yes, I get it too.

Edit: this symptom and some others were why I started taking the 3-month pill. It worked well too. But I'll off it now. :-(
