Is there such a thing as African cinema?

I mean, obviously there would be, but as with most things African, no one ever talks about it. Is there a Bollywood type industry there?

Any interesting African films that anyone has seen/heard of that aren't documentaries?

2. There's lots of african cinema

it's just not widely distributed here. It's only the occasional documentary that gets picked up even by indie video stores. If you want bollywood type fluff, try going to an african grocery store and asking if they have movies. A lot do have bootlegged stuff.

3. South Africa has a national cinema

that has produced some quality films. I'm not entirely sure about the rest of the countries on the African content.
