I REALLY hate being away from the farm when there's a tornado

watch. I'd much rather be sitting there in the middle of a storm than watching blotches of color moving along the computer monitor with as much as a 15 minute delay.

It's not like you can do anything, but...the feeling of helplessness is worse when you're watching it from afar.

(watched F4 with mult vortices bear down on hometown/most of family from 30 miles away, terrifying and paralyzing)

3. Yes, the cell is headed directly over the farm and a tornado on the ground

has been reported about 12 miles west...headed, well, you know where. I know it sounds crazy but I'd rather be there than watching it from a distance.

6. Farmer here too

We had a tornado hit our farm last year - sent two 150+ year old oaks crashing into the barns. Uprooted 3 more enormous oaks and laid them in a neat circle down in the lower paddock.

Scary as shit, but still glad I was there instead of anywhere else. Good luck getting through unscathed.

8. Second tornado confirmed 5 miles southwest of me in Ft. Atkinson

Wishing this would get over. No point in calling the gas station to see exactly how the little hamlet of Helenville did (we don't have much in the way of business)

9. No injuries is the most important, but I've been on the farm since

'88. This is one of the closest rolls of the dice so far.

10. Third tornado on the ground the ground 5 miles west of the farm

and reported growing stonger. This one is headed right toward the farm and unfortunately a couple thousand people in Jefferson between the storm and me!

16. Yeah, I know my farm is only 1/2 a mile square...and the buildings

are on a fraction of that. The anxiety is in the conditioned risk. When there is a supercell moving right over the top of the place the risk suddenly seems to become rather greater...

15 miles to the southeast of the farm the folks are reporting debris (tar paper, etc) falling from a dead calm sky.

It's 3/4 of a mile from my house so I am assuming I came out OK.
