Been trying to figure out what to do with a young dove whose landing gear broke (can't perch 'cause her toes don't work anymore). Makes a nice desk pet, but I don't know what to do with it. Other than that oddness, spiffy. Going camping next wk, taking uppityTeen too, if all goes better than did for you (bah).

Awww...about the young dove. Is there any hope that she can heal? I've made little braces for my baby chicks before when they were born spraddle-toed.

You just take a pipe cleaner and tape it to the foot until the foot heals to proper form.

That might or might not work with the dove. Is it eating?

23. Crawford and it used to perch fine

It has been floor living for about a week. It used to perch ok, then it fledged and has been on the floor now. It eats and drinks and gets poopybutt. The feet don't seem to be broken, just don't work, though the legs wiggle if I hold it on its back. The bottom of the cage is enclosed, so nothing got hold of its legs. It is a real puzzlement.

And yes, Crawford. I'm going to go be another middle aged mom asking "why". Backyard campouts work with kids. Nice to just sleep out together. Sad day in the life of me: camping out and having uppitykid decide he was too old to cuddle while watching the sky. I wouldn't want him to stay little forever, but I do miss that part of childhood.

Have a wonderful time in Crawford. I wish I could be there with you. Like I said, my greatest regret is that I missed meeting so many DUers, and my kid is saying the same thing. We were looking forward to the fellowship and to participating in such a momentous event.

but satisfied (if one has to do 65 - 80 hr work weeks - one has best find it satisfying...) Do miss the Lounge (I do try to keep up with LBN in the wee am and the pm as I can...) That is the long answer for - "I am well, just a bit absent."
