6. Thank you, my friend.
I love it when people stand about three feet away from my work and can't tell what's collage and what's painted.

Thank you for your kind words.

The gold leaf nearly drove me crazy (that's a short drive, anyway), though.

Thank you, ET Awful! :hi:

If I had my "druthers," I'd do a whole series of paintings with these "organic" colors.

Thank you, babylonsister (_excellent_ username, by the way). :hi:

I so totally zoned out last night ~ ~ ~ with ... 3 drops of 'Palmarosa = Cymbopogon martinii' essential oil (neat) directly over my heart ... Enya 'tempus vernum' quietly on replay all night long ... it was my form of guided meditation *totally awesome* ... I'm still feeling mellow

21. It's Friday night, Joan, and I'm gonna
have a night like your Thursday night. Long shower with cucumber soap that I bought a few days ago, light application of "Buddha's Delight" solid perfume that I got on-the-cheap at the same place, and the soundtrack of Martin Scorcese's "Kundun" (if you haven't seen it, RUSH out and buy or rent it . . . it's BEAUTIFUL), and my journal, sitting on the balcony in white cotton surgical scrub pants, writing in my journal with a glass of Round Hill, adoring the Full Moon. *Sigh.*

Sounds like a plan, dontcha think? ;)

and I ain't got nobody ... <~~~ lucky me! yikes!

just returned (awhile ago) from a sumptuous Mexican supper with my house mate (after I pulled her away from painting the walls of her new store) darn-it ... another late supper.

I'm thinking of trying a different essential oil for the next nocturnal journey among the energy waves of the universe.

BTW ... how is your plan working out ... music, moon, wine ... getting any writing done?

32. I purchased it after a fire in my apartment killed the 500 house plants
I was growing while I was a college student.

I did 3 oils and several pastels but ink & wash were my favorites. I haven't touched a brush in well over 30 years.

expressing yourself in cyber space is tricky at times, I believe that smilies make the point a lot clearer ... 1 picture is better than 1,000 words is right

lovely webcam shot ... beautiful scenery to inspire you ... love it!

It's 2:19 AM and I'll bid you Good night ~ sweet dreams ... for tonight

34. I prefer to just enjoy the beauty that I see.
I could NEVER capture the vibrant colors of dawn or the crashing energy of the ocean waves as they wash across the shore.

I've become an excellent photographer ... thanks to the man I called my rock for so many years, Theodore Ciaccia. He was a professional photographer. He did fashion and advertising shot. He used to talk about some of his favorite shots ... like trying to keep a bathing suit model warm on top of a snow covered mountain. He was one of a kind. We could all benefit from more gentle desperadoes like Teddy.

25. Why, thank you, fellow ar-teest!
I'd like to do a whole series of beige/cream/organic-colored paintings, and I'd call it "Things for a White Wall." I got this idea a few years ago, when a client actually brought _carpet and wall-paint samples _ to one of my exhibits, and wanted to commission a painting that would "match" her living room. :eyes:

38. I see what you mean now.
But still, I figure the artist has a reason for having things the way they are. Aestehtically, I might prefer the transition from the darker areas up top and the middle to be softened, but that's a minor quibble. I'd proudly display that in my home. :)

39. There ya go!
Exactly the kind of input I'm looking for!

See, there are many, many artists who refuse to change anything for fear of compromising their artistic integrity; many, too, who refuse to accept commissions for the same reasons. But much of my work arises in the context of my relationships with other people, and I want it to be familiar and comfortable to those who buy it.

I realize other artists feel very differently about this than I do, and that's OK with me, too. No judgment.

(Thanks, GOPisEvil! )

I'd like to support more DU artists. I bought my painting from Rabrrrrrr when I just had an apartment and living was cheap. Now that I have this house, I can't afford as much.

I really do like your work though. Maybe I'll save my pennies...

41. You're too kind,
GOPisEvil . . . I have no trouble selling my work in Switzerland, and do a lot of commissioned work in winter. But I'm always interested in learning, and that's why I value your input. (Some people really can't abide that siena color at the top of this painting, for example.)

It's more than enough, for me, that you engage in the dialogue. That means more than you know.

42. One of the things I decided in the last few years was to incorporate
more original artwork in my home. Part of that was deciding what I like. I always like to engage the artist if I can just to get their frame of mind. I try not to ask about meanings, as I like to assign my own. ALso, sometimes there is no meaning - it's just expression. My mom doesn't much care for the painting I bought from Rabrrrrrr because it isn't anything. It's just color. That's one reason I like it. I can always find something in there that fits my mood.

I've been doing some acquisition, revolving around my love of music as well. I've bought some limited edition silk screened concert posters that I need to get framed. Framing is more $$, so you can see that I really need to win that lotto!
