Update on Fire at Iching's place

Well, I'm back in my place sorta of. The fire damage crew sealed off my master-bed room
and removed the carpet, sheet rock and burnt insulation. They fogged the place with a smoke removal chemical, it helped but of course not perfect. They took my sofa/love seat to the dumpster and my mattress.

I still have no electricity in the other bedroom or the back wall in the living room. I took a lot of clothes to the dumpster and to the dry cleaners. I cleaned the walls in the spare bedroom, and the carpet with a stick removal powder, the first three nights I tried to sleep in there but would cough. Last night after even more removal of items in the closet and walls I was able to sleep in the room. My dog refuse to go in there until last night. I had a futon sofa in there and use it for the living room and a neighbor loaned me an air mattress.

The insurance thing stinks, state farm, to do the reconstruction I have to move out and they will not pay for a place to live. They can do construction to my master bedroom without disturbing me too much until they close the wall off from the other unit where the fire was set. But my wood laminate floor has water damage from the fire and I want it replaced. I will see where this battle takes me.

The arraignment for the alleged arsonist is next Tuesday. They have a charge of arson, and firearm, aggravate arson you need 5 structures he damaged 4. I want attempted murder in the second degree (Attempted Murder 2 (depraved indifference for human life) for you can see I could have easily died for he set the fire to the common wall next to where I was sleeping. He also left a butane tank by the front door.

The DA in Santa Barbara was surprised I was never or my neighbors ever interviewed or
even asked for our phone numbers in regards to this case, by the investigators in our town. I might ask the judge tuesday, that some involved with this case recuse themselves because of the father's and brother's long history with the police department and DA office here in town.

Being fairly political in state and local affairs has left me with a taste of paranoid suspicion on my part, but just a little.

The odd thing about the time of the fire, it was started on the day my father was born, my daughter was born, the day my mother died, the day I finally closed on my house in Colorado (after trying to sell it off and on for 4 years, and the day that
Saddam invaded Kuwait. No sycronicity going on here

I plan to modify my signature. Mods.

edited for the day my mom died

2. thanks for your concern
I plan on giving a small powerpoint presentation at the arraignment, photos and economic list of losses, which I'm guessing will be around $10,000 after every thing.

6. Pissed off is a good place to be, IMHO...
It tends to energize you, and that gets things done...

Anybody who's against you should be scared....

Good for you!

I've missed reading your posts....

All the great thinking, and the wonderful things you've made...

Of course, I don't expect you'll be making anything for the forseeable future...

Considering that you've got to get your life back on track...

5. IChing, I never saw the original post...
Thank goodness you and your dog are ok. How frightening! The pictures are incredible. This person is very lucky no one was killed or injured.

Good luck in court. I know from personal experience that victim impact statements can definitely help sway a judge.

Take care.
