Determined to create a new nation where passionate, diehard flamethrowers are no longer subject to teasing from the DU Lounge, DU General Discussion-Politics today officially declared its independence. A spokeperson from GD-Politics cited growing discontent "with the lighthearted Lounge lizards, who have nothing better to do than post about their crushes" as well as a strong consensus within GD-Politics that DU Loungers "weren't mad enough at Al Franken today."
Also cited as reasons for breaking from DU were the number of "meaningless copycat threads in the DU Lounge" and the sudden, random hiking of required nominations to place threads onto the Greatest page. "How can you ever expect FIVE of us to agree on something's greateness?" the spokesperson said.
This secession marks the second in the past year, after the little noticed departure from DU of the dissident Bottle Cap Collecting subforum in DU Groups.

My hair is growing out long again and I've decided to go ala natural with the clothing. If it ain't comfy, I don't wear it. Of course, if I had my drathers, I'd go nekkid half the time, then wear my leather jacket and jogging pants in the colder months. I've had that thing since I was 10 years old. I remember it didn't fit. It' put it on and stand in front of the mirror and pose hoping to grow into it. I eventually did. I say 'use alternative power' ... they argue with me on that one ... I can only guess it's because their minds are closed to some of the answers ... they are saying " alternatives are not going replace what we get from oil today ... its estimated that the total corn crop would only make enough ethanol to replace about 12% of the gasoline we use yearly!" ...
