So I quit smoking today...
and I'm going CRAZY! So far, I've worked out twice and cleaned the house top to bottom once. I'm sure by this time tomorrow my flower beds will be weeded to within an inch of their lives. I'm really trying to stay out of the yard today so I'll have something to do tomorrow. Please tell me this gets better lol. :P If it doesn't one of the kids or hubby will not survive the weekend lol!

Just for the next couple of weeks, you gotta keep busy. Yeah, do all those jobs. Everything. You're probably finding you've got more energy anyway, so use it. You just don't want to be bored.

We're all rooting for you! :bounce:

You know last night, the GM was on the radio whining about an support....

Really asking us to continue to pay for their stadium, continue to spend 75 to 100 bucks to see a game and they refuse to go and get the one piece of the puzzle until the fans show more support....

Fuck em...

That's what i say now butI will be listening tonight....

32. Wow, does he ever sound like the Twins' owner
And the Twins have drawn decent crowds for the past 3 years.

The average weekend attendance is around 100-120 K depending upon who the Twins are playing, and what promotions are going on.

We play Seattle this weekend, but it is the 40th anniversary weekend (of the 1965 AL championship Twins team), so there are TONS of promos going on.

Then, it's clear sailing and you just hve to figure out what to do with your un nicotine stained hands...

38. Be very careful
When snacking, try to snack on raw veggies and the like, you will be less likely to put on a ton of weight that way...

Also be aware that by virtue of the fact that you smoked, your metabolism will be slower - this is fairly permanent.

I'm using the NicoDerm patch-pricey but worth it

I have become quite the connociere of gums-I recommend Wrigley's Eclipse gums good flavors and bubble gummy too.

Good luck. Getting to Monday will be the hardest part. You can do it.

35. Trust me I am quite versed in gum at this point
I would stay away from the Eclipse mints though (real sinus clearers) and don't drink cold water on top of Spearmint gum-it feels like you inhaled a pine tree.

Eclipse offers bubble blowing as well.

Koolerz offers some really strong fruit flavors but the taste doesn't last very long.

Trident sucks

31. You only quit if you want to be healthy.
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 04:17 PM by Gregorian
I'd die for an Export A. Or a hand rolled Pearl Shag, or Drum. Those were the days. I mean, I mean I'd actually die. But they sure did taste good. But the high only lasts for the first few days when you started.

It took several tries, and even after that an entire two years before I stopped scrounging through garbage bins for cig butts. And I'm not one to go rummaging through garbage.

My solution- 1)Want to stop. 2) Eat well, and always have something on hand. 3) Exercise! (If you really exercise, you'll gasp for air, and you'll only want oxygen. 4) Postpone. This one is extremely helpful. I found that as I went to find another butt somewhere, I just stopped myself and said I'd think about it in a half hour.

Ta Da! You will be much happier. No dread about when the lung cancer starts. And you'll have more money.

Sure hope it works out for you!!!

41. It gets better. I swear! I don't miss smoking AT ALL.
I've been "clean" for six years and every time I think back on the Smoking Time I just--yuck. Icky. So disgusting and BAD for you.

That was supposed to be encouraging. It looks kind of judgmental, I know, but really--that's how I look back on my days as a nicotine addict.

Be sure to explore all of your options. We're here for you.

44. It does start to get easier
I watched my sister give up smoking.

Two things helped her immensely - first she wanted to have a child (i.e., she had a motivation), and secondly, she saw some counsellor chap (i.e., she had some help).

From my perspective it was obvious that both of these aided her dramatically. The latter made the effort easier, and the former gave her more of a reason to strive.
